That’s cute probably makes you feel super duper

Do you even know who that organization is?

No, not credible enough. Older kids get their ears more infected than babies. They lose all credibility they didn’t already have

So you think you know better than a national professional organization of pediatricians?

Its mom turf.
When you have a boy you can decide when to give him his first bow with metal tipped arrows.

I'd question my wife's intelligence if she wanted to decorate my one year old by poking holes in her

I can remember when I worked at Woman's and the really trashy parents would be asking who will pierce their newborn's ears before they leave. Hoping that medicaid would cover the cost.

If she pierces the kid anyway, be sure she gets her some classy earrings from the Jon Benet collection.

It's actually more bizarre than trashy... the baby is clueless so it's simply a public display for the mother. This syndrome is very closely related to the pageant mother neurosis. Piercing a completely oblivious infant's ears is many times the beginning of saddling up a child for a woman's personal vicarious vanity ride on an innocent child's back. Not many better ways to royally f#ck up a kid. Just nip it... ..nip it in the bud.

There is nothing dangerous about a toddler getting ear pierced more so than an 8 or 12 yr old

We parent all our kids together

This can't be serious, right? I can understand wanting to let the kid decide or waiting to let them have the responsibility of it, but this is rediculous. Maybe the mom just think the baby "looks cuter" or whatever with her ears pierced. This is just not a big deal either way.

You clearly lack basic common sense if you can't recognize that a toddler has more risk of getting the site infected than an older child that is mature enough to know how to care for it.
Toddlers touch everything and then stick it in their mouths. Very easy to touch things and then their ears...potentially spreading something that can infect the site.
But please try and explain to us how mature a toddler is and how you can tell them not to touch the ears with their dirty hands, and they will follow those instructions.

At least my view is supported by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Do they agree with you or do you just agree with them? What’s your actual opinion on the matter?

A 12 year old with her belly button pierce? That’s just asking for having kids in high school.

I was pointing out their stance...which I agree with.
Even at 5 I wasn't mature enough to take care of my piercing...and it got infected as a result.

Babies don’t leave a confined interior area, kids are in dirt play sweat go to school etc. kids are assholes, they don’t care better for anything than a mommy for a baby’s ear. Maybe you slack as a mother.
