its only 3 years fully guaranteed man. Most big contracts basically equate to a fully guaranteed first 2-3 years regardless. have some god damn fricking perspective you damn scumbag.
Seems kind of dumb to offer 3 years fully guaranteed. You also like to have the extra couple of years to work with if things go well.

That's a terrible contract for more than just the fact that they'd be paying Kirk Cousins $30mil.

Why?

bc they will have to blow the team up in a year or two. Guys like Diggs and Thielen need to get paid. Diggs is still on a rookie deal and Thielen came from the practice squad.

That defense needs to get paid.

A fully guaranteed deal will nwver work in the NFL. What if he tears his acl before the season? He gets 30 mil while watching games from the sidelines.

If he signs a 5 year deal worth 150 mil with 70 in guarantees from the Browns, do you think they are going to cut him in your scenario?

happens all the time, besides he is a pocket passer. brady went down with an acl, and i do believe he's won a few super bowls since then. not saying cousins will, but he's not a qb like watson or mariota.

Works out just fine in the NBA.

And fully guarantee contracts will have lower salaries than the inflated ones we have now.

And it’s not like these guys aren’t already making millions on the sideline when they get hurt.

Aren't like the top 5 contracts for each team insured against injuries like him being out for the season?

I know in NHL and MLB, player has to miss x amount of games, then insurance kicks in and pays majority of the contract till he comes back.

NFL has to have this, Owners literally have themselves covered. They are insured against a work stoppage, etc.

1. It's not a 3 year deal.

2. That's a terrible deal for the Lions.

Ya, I don't understand the Vikings deal.

They have 3 QBs that are pretty good that they could sign. Unless they are using those three as fall back plans.

They have already locked up Harrison Smith (their best player), Linval Joseph, Xavier Rhodes, Everson Griffen, and Andrew Sendejo on defense.

The only guys that they will need to pay or make decisions on are Anthony Barr, Eric Kendricks, and Danielle Hunter on defense. They will probably keep one LB and Hunter.

Thielen signed an extension before this year. Riley Reiff is locked up. Cook and Elflein just completed their rookie years.

Diggs is the only guy on offense that is coming up. Spielman has done a tremendous job assembling this roster.

Absolutely, and Minnesota has proven itself through the Draft, too.

ETA: Ben Goessling wrote a good article in the STrib about the Vikings cap situation.

Who are the 4 teams? Vikings, Browns, Jets, Broncos?

The Browns need to fill a whole lot more spots with quality players before putting a $25m/yr QB in to get killed. Spend that money on some linemen to protect whoever the unlucky soul will be first, show progress in rebuilding and THEN go after a qb in fa or draft.

The Vikings think he's better than any QB on their roster. And they feel like that small difference could win them the Super Bowl. Most teams only have a 3 year window for that anyway.

It's probably a good deal for both sides.

I’m absolutely shocked they didn’t use the transition tag to at least get a chance to match. Seems crazy not to do that.
