JJ Abrams wrote all 3 screenplays for the sequel trilogy, Johnson scrapped everything

Yeah, I'm sure JJ had in mind when he shot that final scene that Luke would throw his father's lightsaber over his shoulder and tell Rey to frick off. How about instead of moving forward with Episode IX, we go back reshoot VIII to be what the original plan was.
In the very least I want this draft of the script released to the public. It can't be any worse.

In the early days of Star Wars and into the Prequel era, the franchise was known for its singular vision. For better or worse, George Lucas' vision ruled every aspect of the franchise, whether it be the movies, the animated series, games, or books. Well, according to a new interview with Daisy Ridley over at Geek Le Mag (via IGN), the Sequel Trilogy could have also had a singular voice.
Ridley revealed that JJ Abrams, who directed and co-wrote The Force Awakens, also wrote scripts for Episode VIII and IX before Rian Johnson and Colin Trevorrow jumped in to direct the sequels.
"Here’s what I think I know. JJ wrote Episode VII, as well as drafts for VIII & IX," Ridley said. "Then Rian Johnson arrived and wrote The Last Jedi entirely. I believe there was some sort of general consensus on the main lines of the trilogy, but apart from that, every director writes and realises his film in his own way."
Exactly how much of the Sequel Trilogy was outlined in the early days of development by Abrams and the Lucasfilm Story Group remains a bit hazy, but we do know that Abrams and Johnson collaborated when it came to bridging the gap between The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Johnson, for example, asked Abrams to send R2-D2 on the mission to find Luke Skywalker instead of BB-8 so that the astromech droid could play back Leia's original message to Obi-Wan Kenobi for Luke in The Last Jedi.
"Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams met to discuss all of this, although Episode VIII is still his very own work," Ridley explained of Abrams' involvement with The Last Jedi. "I believe Rian didn’t keep anything from the first draft of Episode VIII."

I’d love to see the original draft. TLJ is the Star Wars equivalent of Matrix 2. Absolutely killed my interest in any future films

I think Rian Johnson deserves our strategy for deportation more than the illegals.

It keeps getting worse.
Normally when I get annoyed about a movie sucking, I'm over it in a day or so. It's March 6, 2018 and I still have a pissed off reaction whenever someone brings up this movie.

Yeah, but both love the SJW BS and would have kept the worthless Asian chick and Laura Dern storyline

The Asian chick was completely Johnson’s idea, and I think JJ can follow a narrative well enough to know that the audience wasn’t going to buy a purple haired gender studies professor just suddenly leading the Resistance. Really I just thought this was a joke when the movie was going on and that she had to be some sort of plant from the First Order.
But JJ sure as shite would not have created the Hyperspace plot hole.

We’ve just got to accept our fate that Star Wars is effectively over for us.
TLJ was the Death Star and we were Alderaan. Our voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. Something terrible happened.

Correction... Johnson and Kennedys. If you take her out of the story altogether it fixes 90 percent of the problems. If she is not there then Finn and poe go Together on an adventure to scout out the next rebel base. They run into issues and get to. Fight badges and do badass shite instead of finding a dipshit in a casino.
That also means poe isn't there to be put in his place by another useless female character. She isn't even in the movie as akbar takes over when Leia goes down. Akbar sacrifices himself.
That makes it a totally different movie. I'm fine with everything else that happened on the island. It makes Luke's return at the end mean something. Just would have ended the movie with him sitting on that rock looking at the sun's.

I can get over the Asian chick, though I don't think she should have saved black guy, that was a noble sacrifice he was making and it would have been a good way for his character to go out.
Two easy changes for the last space battle:
1. Have Leia actually die in space instead of going all Peter Pan. They could have still found a way to bring Luke back into the fight without her and there would be no need for CGI Leia in the next movie.
2. Have Ackbar pilot the ship into the First Order's super ship instead of the no name purple haired gender studies professor that was just introduced to us and whom no one gives a shite about. Would be a much more impactful scene.

People are going to blame Rian Johnson for this but really the blame lies with Kathleen Kennedy and other Disney execs who allowed it to happen.
I have no problem at all (and in fact cheer) giving your creative people freedom to tell their own story, but when you're making a self contained trilogy you need to make sure it all flows together in a way that makes sense and feels right. TLJ doesn't feel like it takes place in the same universe as TFA at all.
I think making a Star Wars movie that subverts the norms of the franchise is a worthwhile idea, but you do it as a standalone, not the middle chapter of a trilogy.

Or how about have Leia pilot the ship? There is nothing Holdo did that she could not have done. There was literally no reason to have her in the movie.

you could have tossed in a line to fix the plot hole. As a dramatic device it's effective and that shot is the best thing in the movie.

No, this is like saying that the Phantom Menace’s main problem was Jar Jar. Jar Jar is merely a symptom to a largely underlying disease. Everything outside of the Rey and Kyle Ren scenes is flawed. Like there’s no fricking protagonist. That’s a bigger problem than Rose and the gender studies professor. Hyperdrive is now the ultimate weapon, destroying all logic of the previous films. That’s a big fricking problem. When I bitch about this movie, Rose as a character might barely make the Top 10.

Some producer must have insisted on her inclusion. #hertoo

the "SJW" angle on this movie is hilariously overblown. TLJ has fundamental problems that have nothing to do with gender or race. Fisher and Dern are both white females anyway so idk why that would even factor in at all.
