Is talking about personal finances rude?

Like how much rent is, how much your car insurance, monthly car payments etc.
Posted on 2/20/18 at 2:15 pm to GeauxZone90
Only if you are talking to people who are broke and have car payments.

I don't tell people my personal financial business, not because if it is rude or not, but because it is no one's damn business. If someone wants to talk about their crap, I can't stop them. I don't give a fig and it goes in one ear and out the other.

Just like everything in life, it depends.
One thing is for sure, we can answer your question because of the great detail you provided.

Don't talk about any of that shite on the OT unless you enjoy getting mocked for your poverty no matter what the numbers are.

Why would you talk to anyone about your personal finances?
Posted on 2/20/18 at 2:19 pm to GeauxZone90
Those are questions immature young people ask, generally.

Unless you are asked, people generally don’t want to know your finance, how many girls you’ve slept with, how big your house is, etc.

Depends who you're talking to.
Trusted family members, potnuhs, why not? Random people? Trashy.

its fair game chat with people that you've swapped wives with. other than that, its a bit tacky to ask any such questions.

how much your car insurance
If you live in Louisiana we already know a full coverage policy is way to expensive, nearly double what you may have paid 5 years ago.

Depends if I'm trying to get laid then I exaggerate a little.

At the very least you should ask in a way that makes it easy for them to say no if they don't want to talk about it or allows them to speak in general terms. "If you don't mind my asking" is the bare minimum. When my neighbor sold his house I didn't ask what he sold it for but whether he got what he was looking for. If they want to elaborate they can, but if they don't they can still give you useful information like how strong the market is.

To me:
"Dude my insurance just went up to like 1600 bucks, is that normal? What are you paying on your truck? - Not rude
"wow this is a nice place, what do you pay in rent" - Rude

There’s no yes/no answer to your question. People feel differently. Individuals!
