Let's say they got their way and successfully repealed the 2nd Amendment. It's absurd, but let's just say they did.
They still can't have my firearms.
They point out Australia and how crime went down once the gun banned was instated. Here's what the real story is: the crime rate had been going down at the same steady rate starting 4 years before that and only 1/3 of gun owners gave their guns back for the buy back program. So 2/3 of the guns are still out there. There's is a difference between correlation and causation.

Eliminate gun show loophole which, currently, allows for gun running from gun shows straight into places like Chicago and DC.
Gun show loophole is a myth.

Perhaps I'm using the incorrect name? If that's the case, my bad.
I'm talking about people who go to gun shows in Bumfrick, Indiana where gun laws are extremely lax, buy multiple guns legally, toss the guns in their trunk and drive up to Chicago to sell these weapons on the black market. It's these people, abuse of this practice, that allows places like Chicago, Baltimore, DC, places with extremely strict gun laws, to be full of guns and gun violence.

Its the same laws man. Every new firearm purchase fills out a 4473 and gets approved by the FBI.

the 2A is already heavily regulated
would you support similar regulations on the 1st Amendment? 4th?

Correct.
And what that guy was describing is illegal already.
Buying guns to resale when you don't have an FFL and not complying with local laws and federal law such as filing 4473 will send you to jail as a gun trafficker if you get caught.
Basically he is arguing that there should be a way to stop criminals from committing crimes. Good luck with that!
Like everything else, the law abiding person gets hassled by the new laws and regulations while the criminals just do what they do!

if they do this, that's illegal and there are already laws with severe consequences

So it just comes down to enforcement?
I've only been to one gun show and I didn't purchase anything. Not being a gun guy, it was a pretty crazy experience. Soooo many guns, just insane. And if I'm being honest, pretty fricking cool place to see. What did strike me as odd was I always thought that gun shows were basically gun manufacturers showing off their wares but what I walked into was almost a flea market kind of atmosphere with predominately private sellers.
Is there any authority figure (ATF/FBI/local LE) at these shows checking things or any means of inventory oversight? It just seems like without inventories or tracking info on guns, all of these rules are 100% unenforceable. Am I wrong? What's stopping Joe Blow the Gun Seller from selling a guy six AR-15s at a gun show and not processing a bit of paperwork?

FFL dealers have to account for every serial number that they sale. If they don’t have in stock they better be able to produce the 4473 for the sale. If they can’t they get into Series trouble with the ATF. Lose business and probably face criminal charges. So yea there is something stopping a dealer from selling guns to a person without doing background check. And ATF will perform random checks of FFL dealers to check that they are in compliance.
Now private sellers can set up booths at gun shows and sell firearms and person to person sells don’t require a background check. But at gun shows you will only have a few private sellers and they trade and sale collectibles. They guys with a table of new pistols and racks of new rifles and shotguns are FFL dealers.

It was my understanding that even this has been made illegal in just about every state (I think there was only one left who allowed it.)

It has been a while since I went to a gun show but last time I went they were still allowed in Louisiana.

I'm not saying I'm right by any means, just what I've read in a few places. I very well could be wrong. I'm just not knowledgeable enough on the subject to say one way or another.

Private sales can be illegal too
There are many things to consider when dealing with private sales, and the first is if it is legal in your state. Not all states allow private sales, and some have certain restrictions that you should be aware of. For example, in California private sales must be completed through licensed firearm dealers. Connecticut requires the person making the transfer to get an authorization number before such sales can be completed, and forbids the transfer of long guns unless certain conditions are met. A number of other states have similar restrictions. It is also illegal to sell a firearm to a resident of another state without going through a dealer, and sellers cannot ship directly to (non-FFL) buyers in another state. Selling to convicted felons and any other prohibited purchaser is illegal as well.
