re: Is Brady already the GOAT?

I love this argument. So, Brady's resume would be better if he had never made the Super Bowl in the years he eventually lost the game.

Pats were very lucky to beat the Seahawks and Falcons but also lost two heartbreakers to Giants as well
Amazing how close those games have been and how Brady's legacy could have gone either way in some of those games

Even with his team losing last night, he still solidified it. That L had nothing to do with him. The Pats are very fortunate Matt Patricia is leaving for Detroit.

No he's not the greatest. He's part of the greatest system. His team is what, 14-6 without him with subpar QBs?
You can't just go "14-6 for his backups/greatest system" and not open a door so wide for me to run through with resounding rebuttal argument that renders your argument non-sensical. In the end, that argument's irrelevant because Brady's career performance and dominance reflects transcendence like Staubach in the Landry system, Montana in the West Coast system, Unitas/Griese in the Shula system, Starr in the Lombardi system, etc. These QBs played within magnificent and brilliant systems and used those systems to reach achievements beyond anyone's comprehension and it's illogical to use the "backup/greatest system" argument to diminish greatness, almost blasphemy.

Over the last 18 years with countless backups - New England has had only around a 10% drop off in QB production when Brady doesn’t play.
Compare that to around a 45% drop off when Brees hasn’t played.
CLEARLY, there is an advantage to playing for New England. It’s called the offensive line. Brady literally just stands there like a statue and has 4-6 seconds to throw the ball on almost every play. That’s unreal.
Tom Brady/New England Patriots 2007 with McDaniels as OC: 16-0 and NFL offensive records
2008 New England Patriots with basically same roster, McDaniels, Matt Cassel as starting QB: 11-5, no playoffs
The Tom Brady factor

11-5 with a guy who hadn't started since high school
He had 33 pass attempts his entire college career.

The next year with the same team AND Brady they went 10-6
So was Cassell better?
You’re looking like a retard right now

From page 6 of this thread:
quote:
So with that idiotic logic you decided to apply and consequently get thoroughly destroyed by me accordingly, Earl Morrall's 1968 season minimizes Johnny Unitas' career, Steve Young's performances as a BACKUP to Joe Montana minimizes Joe Montana, Bubby Brister's performances as backup in 1998 minimizes John Elway, Aaron Rodgers' backup in 2013 when A-Rod was injured half the season minimizes A-Rod and Doug Pederson/Scott Mitchell in 1993 with Miami minimizes Dan Marino. You walked into that trap like a mug, have a great night and don't show up with that stupid-arse logic again less you get OBLITERATED by the logical people on this thread.

The NEXT SEASON with basically the same team less Randy Moss they go 14-2 and TB12 wins league MVP, checkmate

But why did that suck that year in 2009? Worse than Cassell?
Oh yeah DEFENSE
Which has shite to do with Tom Brady

Brady was a 6th round pick and completely overlooked relative to the other QB prospects and split time with Drew Henson, was irrelevant he led a team to 5 Super Bowl wins and a 16-0 regular season that set offensive records

Kinda proving the system QB theory with this
Even 2 nobodies can win with BB.

Thing that's hard with the system QB theory as pertains to Brady is he doesn't really play within a single system throughout his career, early in his career with Weis as OC the Pats were more run-based almost like the late 1980s NY Giants, when McDaniels becomes OC and they acquire Randy Moss they transform into this run and shoot, air raid team, then when Randy Moss is traded they become this hybrid offensive team that utilizes both short and deep passes as well as RBBC so I can't pigeonhole him

It’s easily verifiable that Brady is replaceable.
He’s been replaced more than any of the other elite QBs in the last 15 years.
There is statistically significant evidence which proves NE has only a small drop off in production when Brady doesn’t play.
Call it a “system”, call it a consistently great “oline”, call it “all time coaching”
It all says the same thing: Brady is a cog. A good one, but simply a cog nonetheless.
