Seriously asking a question.
Of what advantage is the 6.5 creedmor over the .308 for hunting in the South.
I just don't get going for a rarer cartrige that is more expensive and harder to find for very little if any advantage.

For a kid, less recoil with the 6.5.
For adults, no advantage with the 6.5 until you get past 400 yards. The advantage of the .308 is a heavier bullet.
My son shot a .308 as a kid and killed around 50 deer with it. Very impressive deer caliber.
