Miles biggest sin was he just sucked all the joy out of LSU football with his steady de-evolution to 3 yards and a cloud of dust.
quote:Another fact I'll add is Miles last 5 years, touted as cause for firing him, has a better W/L record than any 5 year stretch of any other LSU coach.
#1 Win%
#1 NC trophies (tie)
#1 NC appearances
#1 SEC titles (tie)
#1 SECW titles (tie)
#1,2,3 in PPG
#1,2,4,5 Scoring
#1,2,3,4 Offensive TDs
Plenty more in '17 Media guide (I've never seen any of the legacies you mention )
LSU traded this in for 10-25.

Miles biggest failure was letting Saban back in the SEC as the Alabama coach. He should have sabotaged that and LSU fans would feel completely different about him.

It was embarrassing to wear anything with LSU on it his last 3-4 years. I think that frustration is why you have fans losing their minds over O and not giving anyone new staff a chance.

It would’ve been great had miles retired and we hired Saban

But then we wouldn't have your boy O.

This, and it's not even close. He made 10 wins not good enough, and yet have to bash him at every turn

You can't be serious. Signed 4 in 15 and 2 in 17.
Yet most of you complain about signing too many skill players.

Had he stayed LSU would not have had the success that Alabama is now having, he needed to NFL to humble him again and to get rid of the itch of wanting to go to the NFL. He came back more focused and knew where he belonged.

This and LSU fans and boosters are not willing to give the money to the program that bama is. You can say you would, but you wouldn't

Every QB on this team committed to play for Miles. Ed O still has Zero.

Well then I guess we will be in perpetual suck because Ed Orgeron hasn't recruited any either.

Even though I figured he'd return to CFB, I had no idea he'd go to Bama and cause LSU years of grief.

Goes to show just how good of a coach Miles was at LSU. His biggest failure is that he could not be as good as the greatest college football coach in history.

Creating a conservative culture on offense. ie "Can't throw the ball into windows because you might throw an INT."
Seems like this mindset has infected O. It's not that we've had great QBs, but if you don't allow them to sling it, they will never effectively utilize the windows between the hashes. Essentially it limits your offense to running the ball or throwing outside the hashes or deep making teams with a good front 7 virtually impossible to consistently sustain drives against.
Since Mettenberger OBJ and Juice left, I can't remember a game where we had an effective intermediate passing attack between the hashes.

I think losing Perriloux did him in. That kid wad going to be very good at LSU. Gunner Kiel didn't do him any favors either.

LSU fans will never appreciate Miles for what he did because of what Saban did at Alabama. The Alabama envy among LSU fans is really laughable at this point.
Les got stale his last two years but what he did prior to that was freaking amazing and he deserves that recognition.

I agree. He was a fantastic coach that only lost his edge with Cam Cameron leading to the lack of an effective passing attack. But If Perriloux panned out, Les Miles may have challenged Bama during the foundational years of Saban's dynasty, and the climate of college football may have been different. Oh well, Look ahead and get better.
