If SE is named Co-OC it's O's way of meddling

Essentially O will name a new OC and name SE the Co so he can meddle without having to meddle. If I'm an OC and that's the offer I wouldn't come here at all. It's either my show or no show at all considering our history of the HC basically trying to run the offense. Let O meddle in the Dline coaching.
Like 3 years ago the rumor was SE would be moved to and Administrative job within the athletic department to revamp the offensive coaching. Now he's about to be O's meddler and Co-OC and we'll run off another OC.

that and get a pay raise for the guy who helped get him the job

That's exactly why we'd have a co-OC.

I don't think that's the way it works. no matter what, the HC is the boss. yes, he needs to let the OC call his plays most of the time but there are some decisions that are up to the HC. for example, going for it on 4th down. I've seen saban, more than once, tell kiffin to run the ball. saban saw that the other team was sitting on the pass. also, the HC needs to be involved and sign off on the overall game plan. in other words, there has to be COOPERATION.
you guys that think the HC should just stand on the side lines are not being realistic.

Exactly right. For too many of the rantard majority here apparently can't grasp what"Head Coach" means or entails. Like his decisions or not, anything he calls is within his job description. A HBC cannot by definition, "meddle".

When that coach is O, yes he should.

We used to, then we got a Dline coach as a head coach

Yeah, right. It is totally unreasonable for the rantards to expect the least qualified head coach in the country and that has not experience as an offensive coach, and who freely admitted upon his hiring that he should hire great coordinators and not micromanage them (he did not use that word...doubt he knows that one) to let the coordinators design and call the offense.
The rantards are real fools...

Again, if O was such a meddler because of his ego, not sure why Aranda stayed and why Ondoesnt meddle in the defense
Posted on 1/7/18 at 5:42 pm to tigereye58
Lyin' Ed promised to let the coaches coach and stay out of the way. Lyin' Ed promised to hire the best coordinators in the country. Lyin' Ed is a liar.

Our head coach needs to just stand there. He sold himself as someone that was going to let coaches coach. If that was something he said just to get the job and he's just going to try to behave like a normal coach then what is his appeal? He's not good at trying to be a typical coach.

He lets Aranda coach
Maybe if someone else was good at their job, he wouldn’t step in.

Umm, the head coach shouldn't be dictating scheme unless he's an offensive juggernaut.
Orgeron decides whether we go for it or not, and he's going to say whether we should focus on the run or pass, but that's about it. The HC says run the ball, the OC still decides how we do that and how it looks. If the HC is involved in the game on a play by play standpoint, or it he's deciding to change the scheme, he's meddling.

So Canada earns critical acclaim from multiple peers, and is a Broyles award finalist but that's all negated by Orgeron, who knows shite about offense? Ok.

A career DL coach brings absolutely nothing to the table with respect to offensive philosophy or play calling.

I agree that the head coach has a say. But when he essentially tells a guy he hired for a certain style of offense and asks him to run a different style or significantly alter that style he's meddling. Telling Canada no more motion was like telling a pro style guy no more play action.
He needs to hire the best guy that runs the style he wants. If that's pro style then get that guy. O can choose the style of offense but he can't choose a name and then tell him what to do. He's got to trust someone and let them do their thing. Ex. Dave Aranda
Imagine if he told Aranda no blitzing for this game.

His results this year says otherwise. He was mediocre at best. Add on to the fact, could he just be a pain in the fricking arse as a human being?
But meddling O sure meddles in that defense quite a bit.
I hear he meddles with all the other coaches too. Like Raymond. Or Ensminger. Or anyone else for that matter. Right?
