Also how the hell do they go thru a man hole in the floor only to go up a man hole in the animal barn area? Should they not have come thru the ceiling? Logic would say that if you go down, you continue to go down. I can’t imagine the prison area is on same floor as the animal area. If so, why even have the man holes there?
Are you being serious right now? Do you know what man holes lead to?

There were no guards or any type of door person to see that they are not dressed like everyone else?
Not to mention they are dressed in garbs of the Resistance. Did Finn learn nothing in the last film why that’s a bad decision?

And to teach that lesson, thousands had to die on both sides. Great job.

Seems like she could have just shot them fairly quickly before they realized how strong her armor was. Or called for help. Definitely makes more sense than shutting down the entire bases defense shield.

Why was it necessary to make Captain Phasma a thing with this "Maid of Tarth" title and armor backstory?
She just shows up in these movies long enough to get her arse kicked.

Exactly. Ignore someone who tells them not to land there and they do. Instead of getting the actual codebreaker they were there for, they get a guy who basically will help them for a price. Not to help bc he wants to help the resistance or their cause but someone who will help the highest bidder. I can guess he will help the Resistance in next film bc “they blow you up today, you blow them up tomorrow. That’s just business.”

1. Why not just tell Poe about Laura Derns real plan instead of practically killing him when he demands to know whats going on? Whats with the big secret? Seems like a really good idea to let people know theyre going to be alright.
Some of the 'accusing Disney/Johnson/whomthefrickever of advancing the sjw agenda' claims are just flat out reaching....
dont mis-attribute my intentions here. this thread has nothing to do with the real world context, just trying to make sense of what happens on the screen. Probably a good idea for anyone before they start analyzing the off-screen factors that lead to it.
Honestly, IDGAF which sex or race any character is.

"owed him"? how about the other 400 people who think they are all hopelessly floating to a certain death? Poe is trying to save them and she is doing jack shite. A ten second explanation solves the whole conflict. It makes no sense.
teach him a lesson? Are heroic characters supposed to always follow orders and rules now? The type of defiant stuff he does is standard in dramas going back to ancient greece lol. Hell, the world would have ended about 12 times if Jack Bauer had followed orders.

Additionally, they have to slip into a place and capture or lure someone out, and the first thing they do is clash with authorities by illegally parking their spaceship?
Yeah well done.
Tough laws in that town. They went straight to lock up for a parking ticket.

Especially because she made a point to comment at how she had dealt with impulsive fly boys like him in the past as an example to her authority on what needs to be done.
O really?
And they typically stood down because you told them to step in line?

2. Poe/Rose/Finn obviously dont know about the Dern real plan to use the transports to escape to the (conveniently located) planet. This is the whole reason they go off to the casino planet and hook up with Benicio. Given this, how can Benicio possibly know about the escape plan (and sell it to the First Order?)
Because he heard them talking about it. they even cut to him looking up from what he was doing as a result.

3. If the Maid of Tarth's armor can deflect blaster bolts, why arent all the storm troopers wearing it?
It might be prohibitively expensive to do so. Would also help to know how high is she in the pecking order.

this movie is one that's so obviously made with the perception of TFA in mind. they're trying to act like this movie is so good for doing it's own thing
but it rehashes the original trilogy yet again, while simultaneously trying so hard to placate fan criticisms of TFA
you can't write or direct a movie with fan expectations in mind. people act like that's not what he did. it's exactly what he did.

The first, main battle is a joke. The premise of the two fleets chasing each other is a joke. The subplot on the casino is a joke. Snoke's power is a joke. Hux is literally used for a punch line over and over. And then we finally get a good battle at the end with Luke showing up thinking we might see him be the badass he should have always been... only to be fooled by another joke (a twilight one at that).

Why doesn’t leia instantly freeze to death
Because there are only three ways to transfer heat. Conduction and convection require material contact of which there is none in deep space.
The third is radiation and is the only possible way for you to lose your heat. It would take about 30 minutes for you to freeze in space. Movie sometimes lie about physics. Whuda thunk it.
quote:
When they open the door for her why are they not all sucked into the vacuum of space
Again, you can’t apply our laws of physics to Star Wars and that was established in A New Hope before it was even called “A New Hope”.
The rest of this things are inconsequential.

Hell why were the Death Stars even threats. Alderaan should have just sent a cruiser into hyperspace through the Death Star and saved three movies.
Given the relatively limited damage for the scale of the ship, probably not.
Consider that a direct hit to Supremecy didn’t destroy it immediately, just crippled it.
Now imagine that even the smallest Death Star is orders of magnitude bigger. Could they do damage to the DS: of course. But only cripple it and buy them some time before the rest of the fleet comes to subjugate them.
Also, no one had any idea of the ship’s intent to destroy the planet until it actually did.
Fast forward to when the Alliance actually did have heavy cruisers to potentionlly throw away: now the Death Star is so big, it’s doubtful they can even tear through it, light speed or no.
It’s sloppy sloppy writing for a wow moment. But less of a broader plot hole than hone are making it IMO.
Better question is why wasn’t that the plan all along? Otherwise why the frick are you needed to fly the ship? It’s not like you are going to hit something taping the throttle down. And if it was the plan, why didn’t you execute the second the first transport was fired on?

Well, except for that one time on the Ice Planet Hoth? When Luke (who had more training than Leia ever did) was about to freeze to death?
Yeah, he was a Skywalker too. And the most powerful ever actually
