Would a drive-in movie theater work in Baton Rouge?

Enormous digital screen, audio syncs with your radio via FM signal, can order food and drink like Sonic, rampant fricking and fighting all over. Why hasn't anyone done this?

Convince the OT to replace "Sonic" with this drive-in theater and you might have a business plan.

Why would I want to watch a movie from my car? Seems like it would be hot as frick during the summer.

I love the sound of movies in XD or IMAX. Drive-ins would not be able to compete in terms of theatre technology

It'd become a drive by movie theater in a couple months

because we can't have anything nice in Baton Rouge.

We have a pretty nice one near me. They are great every once in a while. You get two new release movies for like $7/head.

It was, not to mention the mosquitos biting every inch of exposed flesh.

People would go once or twice for the novelty of it and then it would die out. So no it wouldn’t work. Besides that, you planning on serving alcohol to someone sitting in the drivers seat of a car? Have fun with that lawsuit.

I thought this concept was outdated.

Who would want to sit in a car to watch a movie with modern theaters?

No. I want quiet theater with a high definition screen and good sound.
I don't want to hear the a-hole in the lifted diesel pickup next to me idling so he can run his A/C.

No, Barney. Just soft drinks.

Had 'em before...in the 70's there was Showtime Drive-In located off Airline near the old Troop A State Police headquarters. Had 2 screens to choose from. Then there was the Tiger Drive In where mostly soft-porn was shown. Had many a night of fogged-up windshield syndrome. And, yes..I had a female date with me.

Damn, you people are some pretentious snobs at times.

Depends on how good your stereo is.

Way too hot in the summer, and that's when everyone goes to the movies.
Posted on 12/12/17 at 9:42 am to toosleaux
It would get taken over by undesirables just like regular movie theaters.

I go to the Drive-in about once a year and always enjoy it, it's a nice throwback experience. They are just not very viable when you consider how much real estate is needed, they can only operate for a limited time each day, possible weather cancellations, quality of moviegoing experience, potential nuisance complaints, etc.
At least in Baton Rouge it could operate year round or close to it, up here it's only open during the summer.
