It truly will hurt your head if you think about it too much.

Cool thread. So glad you posted this so we can FINALLY discuss this issue..

I know this sounds too simple and not well thought out but I swear it's all because of our terrible quarterback play. You just can't go far unless you can throw the ball. It really is that simple.

Let me guess, Miles did this and that and

Is this another subtle bash Miles thread?

No he isn't but it's no secret as well. Let's look forward and keep the trend going.

When the offense was good with a decent QB the defense was shite. Miles shite it up because as I recall LSU led the nation on 3rd down efficiency.2 runs and a pass.

That's my point. Let's look forward to better things.

I’m not a Miles apologist by a long shot but what if hedve committed to an offense like the one we used with Morris Watts? Heavy run game the way Miles liked and using the option as a short passing game. Not spread but under center like we did with Herb Tyler. We knocked off Bama in 2011 using something like it on a very limited scale with Jefferson. If you took guys like Jefferson, Jennings and Harris and developed them in a system like that we may have turned them into very effective complimentary college QBs. Herb wasn’t super talented but the offense we ran wasn’t complex and took advantage of what he did best.

Tell me if you had a son that was a top QB prospect in the country, would you counsel him to play for Les Miles and his very antiquated run oriented offense, or would you counsel him to go play somewhere where he will be developed into a good pro prospect? The cause of our chronic offensive problems was always obvious for years.

Not only that but the Jarrett Lee situation pretty much killed our pipeline to Texas QBs. It’s one of the top 3 states in the country for QB recruits, Lees dad has been coaching there for a longtime and has a lot of friends who shunned LSU after what happened to Lee. Then you had him ripping a high school kid (Gunnner Kiel) on national TV for signing day because Kiel changed his mind at the last minute. A big time college coach slamming a 17/18 year old in the press because he chose to play football somewhere els isn’t a good look nomatter how the Miles worshipers spin it. What’s worse is the kid transferred the next year and we could’ve got him back but that bridge had been burned.

Why do so many of you have a personal butt hurt about Les? He has been gone a season and a half now and you can't let it go! You must have a wonderful personal life filled with joy. Glad I am not your spouse or child

And Dale Brown had Shaq, Stanley Roberts and Chris Jackson one year and couldn't even win the SEC!

Most players in the NFL for years and yet you lose an average of nearly 4 games a season from 2008-2016 minus 2011?

LSU fans hate Miles, at least a large portion of these so called fans. Forget him being one of the most successful coaches in LSU history. He only did it because of Saban and because LSU apparently recruits itself....

quote:You nailed it! This is all anybody was asking of CLM and his QBs. And it was the one thing that he just never seemed intent on having a real “want” to develop - I mean beyond occasional verbal mentions. Like he lost sight of why LSU recruited those kinds of QBs to begin with (see also R. Shepherd).
