Here's your realistic choices:

Mich State or NDame in Citrus at 1pm kickoff

OR

Northwestern in the Outback at 12 noon kickoff.

I thought I heard that the Outback was likely to avoid going with LSU. The whole "LSU needs more exposure" mindset needs to go away. It's not 1995 anymore.

Also, I'd rather play Mich St over ND. But I really don't think our matchup really matters.

I'd rather beat up on a blueblood like Michigan or Notre Dame. More exposure and more winnable.

Remember when Miss St beat Michigan 51-14? I rarely heard it mentioned after that

conference auto tie ins need to go away, I'm sick of playing in the same 3-4 bowls it seems we've been rotating in.

remember the days when you'd have to court these bowl execs hoping they'd pick us? Now we're hoping they don't

I think Notre Dame might be the opponent instead, they are higher ranked. Looks like another LSU Notre Dame matchup.

hope this happens.

With Florida and likely FSU going through coaching transitions and recruiting uncertainty it's a good time for LSU to have maximum exposure in Florida.

The Citrus gets to pick it's opponent, but after that all the bowls are decided by the SEC. So Outback can voice their opinion but they don't have final say who comes to their game.

I really wanted to play Michigan but they are lower in pecking order than Mich St and Northwestern even though they played a harder schedule than both.

None of that makes Michigan State the more prestigious name. Therefore, they are still the little brother in Michigan.

That is ridiculous. Give me the better team with the (higher) ranking.

Put the Kool-Aid down. The sec office hasn't screwed Georgia kids yet. The child molester refs will make sure Auburn goes and bama will go also. That will make Georgia either Sugar and LSU Capital One. No Citrus, nor Outback.

I think they just try to avoid rematches. But, with the way we travel they would probably take us every year.

Interesting they'd want LSU back after we barely brought any fans last season.

LSU didn't exactly bring a ton of fans. The upper decks in that stadium were virtually empty last season. The appeal of LSU is that they provide a more appealing game/brand than the other options:

Miss. St. without their HC or QB
South Carolina 8-4 team who got beat soundly by every team they played that was worth a shite.

every game is on TV now, playing a bowl game in the state has pretty much no effect on recruiting.

That would be a best case scenario at this point.

So you just think it's a coincidence LSU has never played in a bowl game in Alaska AND we have never had an Alaskan player?

Local media. Cities and areas that host games always have a buzz in the run up to games. Maybe HS kids get tickets to the game.

Why do we do neutral site games in Texas? They're nationally televised.
