I wonder if there would be a feasible way to tie the CCGs into the playoffs, basically making them the first round, in a pool of 13 teams

SEC CG
Auburn
Georgia

BIG12
Oklahoma
TCU

PAC12
USC
Washington

BIG10
Wisconsin
OSU

ACC
Miami
Clemson

Three at large teams:
Bama
Penn St
UCF??

admittedly, I didn’t put too much thought into this, so I’m sure there are holes to be found, but it keeps the relevance of the CCGs, while giving the bubble at large teams a chance.. the only unfair advantage I can immediately see would be teams like bama and PSU having a week off (but no shot at winning their conference)

The second round could possibly look like this (predicting the CCGs)

AU
Oklahoma

USC
OSU

Miami
Bama

PSU
UCF

Now you have an 8 team playoff, regular season is still important, and conference championships are still very important

This might make divisions within conferences irrelevant, which is fine IMO

Also - this setup gives us tons of good football games to watch

The problem with this is Bama(Easiest team to use in this situation) auto gets a bye to the 2nd round. While not having to play in the first round

You're neglecting the fact that losers of CCGs could be the at large teams. Why would a 1 loss Wisconsin not be considered a top 8 team?
