Some ESPNers trying to escape sinking ship

Thanksgiving week is here, and many inside ESPN are giving special thanks for jobs they hope will last past the holidays. In the next few weeks, the Worldwide Leader is expected to undergo another round of massive layoffs — Sporting News cites 40-60 layoffs coming, with Sports Illustrated reporting the number will exceed 100 — and the next wave of who’s-next worry has many scanning their options. According to a Monday Sporting News report, which cited a source at a rival network, some ESPN staffers already are sending out “just-in-case” résumés to competitors such as FS1, NBCSN and Turner Sports. “The narrative from many long-timers still there is: ‘I know my day is coming. It’s not if. It’s when,'” another source told the site.

Let it and the other 7 liberal news networks go down

They totally brought it on themselves. Other than live sporting events, I never watch ESPN now.
I used to watch SportsCenter, pre-game shows, post-game shows, etc.
Now as soon as the game is over, click, I switch channels.

You just sent out the bat signal for the people who weirdly white knight for a television station on here

Man to bad, hate to see people lose a job, but ESPN is trash now.

SVP doesn't want you watching anyway. He doesn't need viewers/listeners.

I used to listen to ESPN Radio to and from work. It got unbearable, between Mike and Mike (who were always pretty cringeworthy, IMO), Dan LeBatard, and Bomani Jones.
Over a year ago I changed my sports station to Mad Dog Sports. So I'm now listening to Yankees fans with the biggest Brooklyn accents imaginable to avoid sports infused with politics during the morning. Then they kick it over to their Left Coast crew in the afternoon and even they aren't projecting politics. Crazy.
It'll be interesting to see who gets the ax from the worldwide leader in sport.

Imagine ESPN will fire several actual sports experts and hire some civil rights activist in their place.

Sucks for those guys. It's not their fault that their leadership is terrible and that the leaders want to rebrand themselves as a social justice network instead of sticking to apolitical sports.
I hope those who are getting laid off can find something else quickly. Sucks to not have that sense of security in your job when you've got bills to pay.

Seems to have been their playbook for a few years. Primary reason I quit watching it. Seems to have started when they moved most of the operation from Connecticut to LA.
They caught a case of LA liberal activism and forgot they rely on the free market to earn revenue.

But Van Pelt insisted that anyone who thought ESPN was having financial problems was loco.

It's going to be hilarious to see whites like Van Pelt have to hit the road, but Jamelle Hill stays. Libs getting hosed by their own creation (again).

Mad Dog is very good; especially for baseball coverage. The guy lives and breathes it.
Some of the other shows on his network are good too although I don't like the Morning Men. Schein on sports is good, and so is Steve Torre(sp?).
Not big on the Left Coast crew, but like most if not all of their fill in people.
Real sports, for real sports fans.

Agreed the the NYC crew is better. I didn't think I would like it because I thought everything would be slobbering over the Yankees, Giants, and Knicks. And while they'll bring it up, it's not over the top.
Mad Dog and Schein on Sports are really good if you want to hear it straight.

SVP just trying to score some brownie points with the ESPN bosses in hopes that he doesn't end up being laid off
