Open Enrollment Time: The Annual "My Health Insurance Premiums are Out of Control" thread.

For some lower-income people in Obamacare, the rising premiums President Donald Trump has talked so much about will barely be felt at all. Others, particularly those with higher incomes, will feel the sharp increases when insurance sign-ups begin Wednesday.
Richard Taylor is one of the people on the wrong end. The 61-year-old, self-employed Oklahoman has meticulously tracked his medical costs since 1994. In 2013, he signed up for an Affordable Care Act plan for the law’s first year offering coverage to millions of Americans.
Four years ago, annual premiums for a mid-level “silver” plan to cover his family totaled $10,072.44. For 2017, they were $21,392.40—up 112 percent.

For people who don’t get subsidies, “you’re looking at eye-popping rates, almost across the board really,” said Nick Gerhart, a former Iowa insurance regulator. “You’re going to have a lot of rate shock.”

Thanks, Democrats.
ETA: Just checked. 60% premium increase for me next year, $1,500 higher deductible, and new 30% co-pays that didn't exist before. Outrageous.

My shitty silver plan for fam of 4 was just increased to over $1,400/m with higher co-pays and deductibles than last year when it as $1,190/m. Awesome

My work pays the majority but they include what their costs are on my pay stub. We pay about 5k out of pocket for a family. My company pays 11k. It's insane. 16k per year for something we rarely use.

It's going to continue to get worse until Obamacare is repealed and replaced, which seems to not be happening. Haven't had our meeting yet, but I'm expected a big increase in my portion of our costs.

3rd year in a row mine will not change. one of the perks to work for a huge company. I get full coverage with 500 deductible and my monthly payment is 140/month.

We went medishare last year. We have saved a shitload. Gonna pay out a bit next year cause the wife is pregnant but it won’t cost us anymore than it would have if we kept BCBS.

frick Obama and every piece of shite Democrat who voted for that horrible bill. It will end up crushing people so the freeloaders can sit on their asses and get more free shite.
My insurance has gone up every year since this shite went into effect and the deductible has gone up. More money for less coverage. Sounds fair.

Does your company not offer it?
My coverage hasn't changed for 4 years and the price difference has been minimal. Like less than $5 over 4 years. And that's with 2 different companies.
I was self employed before that and had no increase.

Noticed that with mine. And only 2 providers in Tarrant county.
To Obama, Democrats, and republicans.

An architect of the federal healthcare law said last year that a "lack of transparency" and the "stupidity of the American voter" helped Congress approve ObamaCare
The Dems knew it was a shite law and passed it anyway.

My payroll deduction hasn't increased much, but my deductibles have. And now instead of a $40 copay to see a specialist, I have to pay in full until my deductible is met, then I pay 20%. Damn near every Dr other than a basic primary care Dr falls under a specialist these days.

If you were self-employed now, you'd be getting killed.
