No. Because if LSU happens to win out, the loss to Troy will still keep them out of he playoff.
I'm not sure that it would. That would mean that we will have beaten a ranked #1 Alabama and possibly a ranked #1 Georgia in the SEC championship. Given that our two losses came early in the season and we were missing some starters, we would have an argument to be in it. Of course it would depend on how other teams do in other conferences. If Penn State drops a game, we could definitely be in the playoffs.

Yes great wins overshadow bad losses. Of course you'll have the more shitty fan say they don't but there's been conversations all week on college football shows about this and in every example it's proven that for a teams strength the big win helps more than the big loss hurts so it's not a matter of opinion it's a proven fact.

In seasons like this where we aren't playing for anything.
You do realize the reason we aren’t playing for anything at this time is BECAUSE we got boot-stomped by MSU and lost to Troy. Otherwise we could be 7-0 and playing for something.

I think about it somewhat outside the box. The very fact LSU could lose to a lesser team like Troy shows a basic team weakness, that is an omen of further losses: Alabama for sure, and maybe others as well.
Good teams don't lose to Troy.

It’s an interesting question for sure.
I tend to think they do.
I know that’s going to upset a lot of people that are still stuck on the Troy and MSU losses. I am too, but here’s why I think wins are more important than losses.
Go back to 2011. After the regular season we all saw the graphics between Alabama and Oklahoma State.
Alabama, as dominant as they had looked, had only two wins over ranked teams.
Oklahoma State had five.
Pretty much the only measure, other than the “eye test”, where Alabama could claim to be the more deserving team, was that they had a better loss, which they certainly did.
But in my opinion, a loss is just that. Both teams failed to do what they needed to do to win. While one may feel less of an indictment, it’s nothing but moral victories and equivocation.
But as bad as that loss to Iowa State was, Alabama lost too. They failed. So does it make sense to judge those two teams based on their mutual failures, or based on their actual accomplishments.
As an LSU fan, I will forever believe that Oklahoma State should have played LSU on 1/9/12. I just do.
The wins and accomplishments outweigh the failures.
I know it’s not an exact comparison, but in this case I’ll say if we get more wins like we did against Auburn, I’ll weigh those accomplishments more than the failures.
That doesn’t mean as long as we win more than we lose the season is a success. But I will put those early season losses in perspective if the team continues to improve and accomplish what they should over the next half of the year.
And I say that as one of the biggest critics of the O hire on this board.
Just IMO of course

This is an extremely elitist attitude. It reminds me of last year right after we fired Miles. A bunch of people were saying that we had a stable program. As I said then: we just fired our head coach. We are not a stable program.
Yea I found that comment perplexing as well, especially in this day and age of college football.
I think this attitude is the crux of the problem with our fanbase right now. Just true ignorance of the game in the current era.

Saban sure did overcome UAB and ULM.

No bcs losses eliminate you from playoffs and good bowl games.
That’s a great point too, in spite of my previous post.
It’s like bombing a test. That one F may drop your grade for the semester beyond repair. So yeah, one loss can ruin many of the team’s goals.
Still, even with those two bad losses and even another one to Bama, we could still be sitting at 9-3 and in prime position for a marquee bowl game.
Most of the realistic probably didn’t expect to be in the playoff this year, despite what our new coach and idiot AD boasted at the introductory press conference, so being in line for a top SEC bowl has to be considered ok in my book.
So, at least where a fan’s perception of the season as a whole is concerned, which is how I was viewing the question, I do think good quality wins should outweigh a bad loss like Troy or MSU.

A win over Alabama >> 2 losses to Troy, IMHO
I wonder how you rationalize in your mind how a team capable of being Alabama should ever lose to Troy.

I almost put that in my first post, but hesitated due to the ridiculous O and Saban comparisons. The situations aren’t remotely similar, based on where the program was in 2000 vs 2017, or based on the resumes of the coaches before those losses.
That said, when I look back at the 2000 season, I surely don’t dwell on the UAB game.
I think about the amazing wins against Tennessee, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Alabama, and Georgia Tech.
Yeah, maybe some of that is because Saban went on to give us such great success in 2001 and 2003, but even before all that, in that offseason, the wins were what stood out. To me, anyway.
If this team goes 9-3, even though our schedule is ridiculously easy outside of Alabama, I'm pretty sure I’ll remember the wins more.
Assuming we look like a team that is building toward something like we did in 2000. Not just that we sucked less than the OM, Ark, and Tenn teams, which is how I felt about the Florida game, for the record.

How often is Saban's losses to UAB, ULM, and Utah brought up by the national media?
Those are literally the only stinkers you can point to in Saban's career. Orgeron has two stinkers this season.
Stinkers are ok if they're rare occurrences, not multiple times per season.

It would definitely be interesting but I could only imagine the pressure to not let LSU in because of that loss. All you would hear is they lost to Troy and it wasn't some fluke loss.

Nothing absolves the Troy loss.

No. Respect the 10-fold rule.

OU made the cfb after losing to a 1-4 UT team that finished 5-7

Winning always overcomes losses. Not comparing the debit vs O but nobody remembers saban for losing vs UAB or ULM

To me we are having a great year. Our Team is developing into Championship caliber team
I definitely consider myself a half full guy, but that is some sunshine pumping my friend.
We’ve had two games where I felt really upbeat after, BYU and Auburn.
The MSU, Syracuse, and Troy games were all very very disheartening, to say the least.
Chattanooga didn’t register and UF was merely two weak looking teams seeing who would let the other win, imo. Thanks Coach Mac
Just because Auburn is the most recent doesn’t mean it matters the most. I need to see more consistency and continued improvement or the Auburn win could have just been a case of a team getting cocky and sloppy after shite stomping a team early in the game.
The schedule is unbelievably easy outside of Bama and sets up for a great run to end the season, so if we don’t do what we are supposed to, the euphoria of that Auburn game will fade into reality very quickly.

I disagree. If lsu wins out they are in. Committee looks at the way you have been playing. Yes they would have that terrible loss but they would also have a win over the number 1 team in the nation. So I really think they would get in if they win out.

For a feel good effect, yes.
But the bottom line is that unless Bama and Penn State fall apart no team is sniffing the playoffs with 2 losses.
