NBA commissioner Silver is calling for an end to one and done.

“It’s clear a change will come,” Silver said Monday on ESPN’s “Mike & Mike” show.

Silver has already reached out to union president Michele Roberts and noted they don’t need to wait until 2024, when the collective bargaining agreement is up. He wants Chris Paul from the union and Michael Jordan for the owners to run point on this.

“We should sit down even this season and talk about what a different frame work would look like,” Silver said.

Sounds like thanks to the scandal positive change is coming. The article mentions the zero or two rule like the MLB has which I think would be perfect.

one-and-done

This seems like the most obvious answer, and it baffles me that it took this long to address it again.

MLB is technically zero or three (depending on birthday) but I know what you're saying.

Would be a great change for college basketball.

The stupidest rule implementation in the history of sports next to whatever the NCAA does

If you went MLB route, would you give the high school player the option of entering the draft, seeing where he gets drafted, and then deciding whether or not to sign the contract?

Or would it be if you decide to go to the draft, then you have to go pro, regardless of if you are drafted or not.

OR would you allow all non-drafted players the ability to then go to college?

0 or 3 rule would be best IMO.

Back to the 90's and bust city for draftees.

Teams will go back to reaching for players based on AAU hype or whatnot straight out of high school.

One and done was lame for CBB but at least it gave NBA scouts some real film against real competition.

Now, they're going to have to get off their asses and do some real scouting and personal workouts.

Thank God. Hope the zero or two rule is what is implemented.

If you’re going to do the baseball model I hope they do 3 years like baseball does. I think that would definitely be best for the sport itself.

Would they adopt the baseball model where the players could go to college if they couldn’t agree to terms with a team? Really don’t see any other way a 0 or 2 years rule would be better. You are going to have A LOT of players who aren’t close to being ready for the NBA declare just because they don’t want to commit to 2 years in college. I can’t imagine many 5 star players not going to the draft out of high school in this scenario.

A lot less talent in the college game, a lot more draft busts, and a bunch of players careers ruined before it starts because they thought they were good enough but go undrafted.

NBA needs to make it like baseball. Go out of high school or wait 3 years. It would make college basketball so much better.

Good. College basketball has gone way downhill the past few decades and the one and done stuff has been a big contributing factor.

College basketball would be more watchable in my opinion by having players stay longer.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing it done like NCAA football. Play three years, then you're eligible. Names would be more recognizable, player rivalries would form, etc...

Now, it's not even worth it to keep up because by the time you get everyone straight, season is over and they are gone.

I personally like the one-and-done rule because it forces bad players to go to college for a wake up call. Before, Jamal would have his head filled up with sunshine about how he is all world. He enters the draft (and forfeits college) , goes undrafted , and now is on every government handout known to man with no education.

If one and done goes away , I'd like to see the NBA draft work like the MLB. Then these kids would know if they need to go to college first.
