Any suggestions for home insurance?

Hi Everyone,
I am looking for a new home insurance policy. My current policy renewal bumped my premium up by 15% without any known causes. Any suggestions for inexpensive policy? (I am currently with Safeco). Any suggestions for an independent agent?
Also if I can ask, how much are you currently paying for your insurance? My home has 1700 sq ft living area in BR. Has $230,000 dwelling liability coverage and my premium for last year was about $1150.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

My 9803 sq foot house in Malibu runs about 56000 every 6 months.

Liberty did us very good this summer after switching from State Farm. Moved house and cars.

I’d guess you don’t own a home

We had Safeco and they jacked our policy up sky high!! We said to heck with them.
I was recommended to this guy Bill Caldwell, on Jones Creek in Baton Rouge, ASI rep I think. He gave us a policy with almost the same coverage for a THIRD of the price. Dude is nice and professional also.

Sometimes a company will want to get out of insuring certain types of properties so they’ll raise the price. I use an agent that shops it around a bit every year.
ETA: I don’t change companies every year. Only when she sees a big difference somewhere else. Maybe every 4 years on average.

Ask for replacement cost. Its not that much more.
1,500 homes burned in 3 forest fires in my county last two years. more flooded last winter as the lake was 11' out of banks.
Its always something. I have a sick ponderosa pine, maybe 90'. If it comes down the hillside my office and bedroom and an expensive fence will all go.
Tornados happen to someone. Lightning happens.
Its always something.
Read policies. Go to independent agent. Its worth some time. I have a friend whose house is finally being built. It was a fortune doing the hazmat cleanup after the fire.
Another friend is living in a tent, waiting on delivery of a manufactured home. They ordered custom design a year ago. No partical board.
