When they pinpointed the location of fire, the building was surrounded and locked down I would assume. No one was leaving the premises. We are talking about a 64yr old man that looks like he was not very well conditioned to be able to make any kind of daring escape. The moment he engaged, it was over for him.

god you are ignorant.
Can someone explain how a 55 grain LEAD bullet decelerating at 2,000 feet was gonna light off a fuel tank? Or why someone with $100k in guns and ammo didn't spend $5k on a 50 BMG w a scope if he was targeting the fuel tanks (not that that would work either)?
Jesus, move on from the tanks already.

True. You would need a incendiary round.

Ah yes the old Hans Gruber method.

There's no way they could have surrounded and locked down that massive hotel in such a short time frame. You're talking about an event that was pure chaos. Now he may have had some escape plan in mind, but I think he realized he was trapped fairly quickly. He may have figured that he had x amount of time before he was located, and planned on escaping after a certain amount of time had elapsed. However, if he was counting on the cops being there in 20 Minutes and the security guard shows up in 5, then he had to alter his plans.

Better question -
Why does anyone think he was trying to escape?
No evidence to indicate such stupidity

Sad thing is that might be true

I think so too.

Escape.
But, he brought a hammer to smash the window out. His name is on the hotel bill and the window would be out. Everyone would know it was him.
Wonder if he had a plan to fly to the
Philippines and live off the 100K.

We are told that Paddock had an escape plan.

Ask the sherrif. He is the one who indicated that he believed Paddock has some plan for escape.

There was a cop on 31 who tried to get up to 32 via the stairwell but it was barricaded. Say he barricaded floors 31-28. He coulda walked down to below the barricades and made his way to a stairwell that emptied into the parking garage.

exactly how was he going to get out of that hotel.
By shaking off this mortal coil.

No but it turns out he once worked for the same FedGov agency that is my current employer (DCAA, he worked for them in 84-85 and I didn't start until 87)

Or his plan could've been to go up the stairs-- into the Four Seasons hotel located above MB. He could then possibly try to blend in with people evacuating..
A planned escape through Four Seasons could also tie into the possible terrorism/ gun dealing theory considering who owns that hotel and the people who frequent it....

Yah what if he had a room in the 4 seasons under a different name
Posted on 10/6/17 at 1:52 am to tigerjoey
Where was he going to escape to? Living your life on the run as an alias is no way to live life like he was used to.
He booked the room in his own name and busted out the windows. Was he going to claim that somebody else did it?
I don't buy that he really thought there would be any outcome but his death.
