Funny thing: White mentions need for more film time

but didn't O say they were upping film room time while reducing practice time?
We've heard (from O) that he has in fact meddled in the the offense.
We've now heard (from a team leader) that they have in fact not been watching enough film.
Something is definitely rotten in Denmark.

White was referring to doing it on the players own time. He was not bashing the coaches.

When Miles was the coach people were claiming they never watched film.

Another Chicken Little thread. This board really sucks lately.

None of this shite matters. As a fan you'll never accurately guess what is wrong. The head coach is responsible for everything.
We were missing a lot of starters on defense? That didn't stop Ole Miss from dominating our Mettenburger-led offense a few years ago. Youth on the offensive line? Didn't stop Alabama from competing for a national title when Cam Robinson was a freshman.
Just win, baby.

Could be notvwatching enough film on their own??? I wouldn’t imagine that they go into film rooms and just frick around

Short practice time + Short film time = More gumbo time for O.

players not taking the initiative to study film
players dont know the offense
players deciding if/when they want to play
OC has to dumb down the offense because the HC doesnt understand the offense
HC counting on "hope and prayers"
an AD that runs his Dept like Himmler
wow

Who is directly responsible for defense?

Not really sure this is a fair statement. When he didn't meddle people bitched. When he did meddle people bitched. Which is it?

Be a good place to mention this...
The small things matter. We know that the players are given iPads. But what we don't know is if players have enough access from dorm/home or that iPad to do film study at their convenience or do they have to go to football ops, sign out film access, etc etc. Especially after Brother Patterson was caught stealing. Did they tighten down on access to the point it's bottlenecking player access?
I have another related example (of small things that make a difference). A large, 72" or larger, TV for the players in the dorm/home. Don't laugh. Here's why:
A) if they have access and the right equipment, it makes it easier to view film at their convenience.
B) you can attach the value, hyper inflated, to the cost of being a player and increase the players stipend. You can't do such things to tuition, value of the education, etc. But you can with "freebies". Hell, you can add weight room access/rental, and meeting room time to the value the stipend is based on.
Again, don't laugh. Why is that stipend important? We're talking about individual self-motivated film time specifically in this thread. Think of that time for a player as "work". While other students, including students on academic scholarship, are getting jobs to cover all the stuff that scholarships do not cover (and they don't cover alot) one thing you want to do for atheletes is take that "issue" out of the equation. They have to worry less about money (stress), the school kinda owes it to them considering how much money they make for the program, and now they have that free(er) time to do said film study instead of getting a "fluff" job to make up some of that. And unlike the mob, you can't do a no-show job as a student athlete. NCAA is all over such things; so is LSU compliance Nazi's.
How does this relate to coaches?
Let's compare a Miles or Saban to a Herman or Orgeron.
A) A Miles/Saban having long-term experience with large programs know how to get things done bureaucratically, including who to talk to for what. In LSU's case, right now, that's Austin Thomas' job on behalf of CEO.
B) Miles/Saban, having NFL experience and connections (to stay up to date), can better stay current on the latest technology and techniques. Why do you think Saban hires all these consultants.
C) They know better how to work the system for such things as increased stipends or better access for athletes. Let's say they wanted to place 72" TV's in all the players domiciles, AND enhance secure access. A Miles/Saban can quickly hook up TAF (for funding), compliance, and 3rd party for networking (or the CS department head) and get it done.
D) Does an Orgeron/Herman fully understand the value of film study? I tend to think Miles did not. But by this question I mean value in the sense of devoting resources to it. Not just player time but such things as remote-secure access, a manager of such things to make sure the players get what they need when they need it, funding for that manager and department, bringing in new technology, paying for consultants, etc.
So just a little thing such as better access to film, sliced and diced for that specific player can have far reaching and significant impact on the field. If you want to be elite, such details and small things matter. And frick optics; I don't give a shite if a F. King doesn't like the "optics" of more free shite for a player. When private funding dries up via TAF only then when suck cucks realize you spend a dollar to save a dime.

I feel like there is/has been alot more shady shite going on behind the scenes in this program than they want us to know about.

They are watching more film but the problem is like when you're in front of your peers and they ask does everyone understand and they all just nod their heads. They could also understand in that moment but then when it's playing out on the field, looks change, and it confuses many of the players who haven't seen it before. They need to take this film back to their rooms and learn from their mistakes as well as in the film room with their group.
I agree with doing this during the season but I don't see the point in shortening up practice in the offseason. There is no game film to look at, no games to play, and plenty of time to let bodies recover. If I were O I would be headed to a very successful S and C program, offseason program and copy what they do in the offseason and then go back to what I did during the season at the end of last year. I may even stay with a tough regimen for the first few games if they were cup cakes. Once SEC play comes around then lighten things up and let bodies heal. At that point there is no more physical time you could have out in and they should be well prepared for a tough season. You have to be hard on them in the offseason physically.

I told the give the man a chance crowd this goes way beyond the depth issue. Even with a depth issue you don't get your arse handed to you by Miss. State and lose to a Sunbelt conference team. The problem is systemic to the core. The most important part of preparing for a game is the film, meetings, breakout sessions with the players and coaches. With all the technology and essentials in place at LSU this is inexcusable and goes right to heart of the problem, O, and the men who hired him, Alleva and F. King. But in vintage LSU fashion, the narrative will be the depth issue and O needs another year. Bull fricking shite. Another year won't fix this..It would just make it 100 times worse.
