No it isn't. The numbers represent the percentage of people using the substance in question who become dependent on it.
Because they know the number of people using illegal substances.

So your problem isn't with the data, it's with the method by which the data is gathered? Just so we're clear.

marijuana is known to cause paranoia, depression, and psychosis

Oh. I love the smell, personally.

do you believe a person should have control over what substances they put in their body?

Do you believe in my right to own a semi automatic rifle that is scary to you?

No, it clearly defines what is legal, and the ramifications for breaking the law.

So, black people chose drugs over family?

So, if I'm one of the few blacks on scholarship, and I've been raised to be WOKE, I'll still frick up because that's just my culture? I can't say no? So I'm my own barrier to success, and I chose drugs?

True, but the law is the law.

Yes. It's incomplete data that is meaningless in this discussion.

I'll be sure to contact the National Institute on Drug Abuse and let them know their data is meaningless in discussions on drug abuse and dependence.

You guys are missing the real reason why marijuana is still criminalized.
It gives Law Enforcement something for these guys to plead down to. If you don't want to go to a jury trial, and the system couldn't possibly handle all the cases they would have if most cases had to go forward just on the grounds the suspect was arrested on.
Got an assault? You don't think you can get the witnesses to testify truthfully (or show up at all?.
Give 'em a deal to cop to possession and go to county for a few months.
Get a guy on a traffic stop? He's a bad, bad man, and up to no good? Kick the can down the road a while. Search his car. What are the odds you won't find weed - and that isn't some kind of "planting evidence" thing. You are just going to find weed. It would be surprising if you didn't.

All available evidence points to alcohol, cocaine and other amphetamines, tobacco, and caffeine being more addictive (not to mention more harmful) than marijuana.

But it's easier to downvote than provide evidence to the contrary... probably because it doesn't really exist.

Lots of people in here get drug tested at their jobs and are super pissed that other people get to enjoy something they can't.

Beautiful example of an addict's thought process.

That may have something to do with it. I think a lot of people are still ignorant to the facts about marijuana. Propaganda goes a long way with the general population.

Hall’s office cited that 92 percent of people jailed for marijuana use were African-Americans, versus the 54 percent African-American population in the city of Atlanta.
Why did it take ATL so long to decriminalize it?
It seems odd that a major city, with a small black majority, where 92% of MJ use jailings were black, took this long to correct this.
