PRE NUP, the words can't be used often enough.

I can't imagine any scenario where my current wife would screw me over. Don't care, we had a prenup and it still is in effect.

you're sooooooooooooooo F'ed lol. I make 65 (no OT baller here) and she made the same as your wife. I have 50/50 and still pay 530$. If you don't get 50/50, you'll be paying 2K a month if I had to guess.

So you're still married?

Maybe try to work it out. It ain't about you anymore, it's about the kid. And you'll get to keep your shirt.

It NEVER ends. Next it'll be college tuition, then a wedding, and then help with a down payment on a house. It NEVER ends these days.

That's not really how it works. It doesn't just scale up that quickly.

Worst case scenario, if you're the only income provider, you'd have to have earn $280K per year for your child support to be $2k/month in Louisiana.

In the scenario in the OP, he's looking at ~$985/month in child support.

I don't care what I earn, I would NEVER pay a woman a grand in child support.

I'd quit my job and live like a pauper, out of spite before I paid that kinda CS.

Isn’t that true regardless of whether you’re married to the mother or not?

About 95% of the answers in this thread are wrong, yours included.

You can find the monthly AGI and support amounts here.

Well my buddy who married a fat chick he dated for YEARS prior to their marriage, had a child after marriage, she got weight loss surgery, cheated on him and then divorced him. Got the kid, got married to the guy she cheated on him with and just recently received a judgement in her favor to remove his last name from the child's birth certificate and have the child's last name changed to her new husband's who is a attorney here in baton rouge.

She's a fricking bitch of a whore. She fricked him over so badly. She's a horrible piece of shite.

Guess she didn't learn anything from being fat.

Hell I know a guy who got nailed for child support when it was actually already a matter of record that the child wasn't his. The judge ruled that he had been living as the child's father for a couple of years already so he could just continue to pay child support. That's some ridiculous bullshite right there.

What a loving parent.

But seriously, in the example in the OP, the combined support obligation is less than 11% of the combined gross income of the OP and his wife ($1322/month on $12333/month gross). Is that really expensive?

There have been a few cases like that. The ruling sucks, but at the same time, I can't imagine just giving up on the kids you've raised as your own for a significant period of time. Not a fan of the ruling though.

I agree with you. I'd probably pay my wife about 35% of my salary if we divorced between child support and alimony

Right now they take 95% of it.

so my kids mom made 38,500 and i made 61,500 at the time. Court ordered me to pay right under a 1,000 based off of the formula the court uses to generate the number based off of income. So a guy that makes basically double of me would be asked to pay the same?

i find that very hard to believe. I have 50/50 now and still pay more than 500
