Buying a car online

Haven't been in the car game in a decade so the whole buying online is new to me
Found a car I'm interested in and it's listed as $26,900
It's a used 2017 Maxima SV with 1,800 miles
What's a reasonable amount to expect them to come off this price? Think I could ask for under 25k?
It's been on the lot for 3 weeks so the longer the better. I don't need a car right now so I don't mind waiting it out

That is reasonable. You can always come up on your price, but once you toss out a higher number, you can't go back down. I've bought my last few cars online, and the negotiation usually doesn't take more than a day or two before I arrive at a deal. Just let them know you are looking at a coupl other cars and start out low on your offer. Go on a site like cargurus and see what similar cars are going for. I use that site for all my new car deals, but they have used cars amd certified pre-owned as well.

You should be able to get a brand new one for a similar price considering this late in the year...especially a Nissan

You can always ask. Check the Will Cover thread.

If your target is 25k, I'd start lower. If you start there, they may only go down to 26k.
If you're trying to get it below 25k or at it, try starting at 21k or 22k. Tell them you're on a tight budget and you can't go too far up from there and see what they counter with.
If you have a firm price/budget, don't go above it just because they make it sound like a good deal. Move on, there's always more vehicles you can find in your price range.

Maxima SV sticker is 34,600. I negotiated a new one last month and got them down to 31k
This one was a courtesy car for the dealership and has 1800 miles for 26900. If I get it for around 25 I think that's pretty good

Bought a vehicle for my 16 yr old using Carvana. Had no issues. I will definitely use them again

What's the best way for a used car loan? Won't you get a better rate at a dealer?

Fill out the application on PenFed. But don't complete it. Currently (last time I checked), they were offering 1.99 % on new and used car loans.
Screenshot that application and then go to Lightstream. They'll beat the rate. You'll get 1.89 % and it will be an unsecured loan. Yep, no lien. No collateral. But you have to have excellent credit and good income in order to qualify.
If you don't, go with PenFed.

I do not understand buying a car without seeing it. Call me old fashioned, but whatever.

Can you negotiate prices with carvana or is it pay what they list it for?

I would never do that. I wanted to negotiate to see if it's even worth my time to come out. I've test driven that model twice

I'm old fashioned as well, I don't mind using texts, and emails to communicate with a dealer, but I like to go to the lot and pick my vehicle out, drive it, see myself in it, have sex with my wife in the back seat (okay that was ONE time on a test drive) and just otherwise look at a vehicle before I buy.

Buy American, a-hole.

I ran the numbers on the car you want and come out with 22650 as the price you should buy the car at for a fair deal. If you finance I would suggest paying the fees and tax in cash and not roll into the deal. Doing so even if you go 60 months should be above the water value wise.
I have bought many cars and this is my standard method of buying.

How did you come up with that number?
