You don't have to be overzealous about how much you love spending time with your kids to over compensate for the fact that you fricked up their family values by getting divorced.

Had less time and money for personal stuff but that wasn't really a sacrifice....these are our children, is part of being a parent

Yeah I ain't going to lie though, I do think about ten years from now when both kids are gone and taking care of their expenses and how awesome the trips are going to be that my wife and I will be taking.

How does one know if they are too selfish to want kids one day? I keep going back and forth on if I eventually want them or not.

Give yourself a couple more years and nature will make that decision for you.

I'll let you have mine for a couple weeks then you'll have a better idea if you want your own.
Just let me know where to drop them off

My son is 14 now. I started taking him to the golf course when he was 6 or 7. Some of our best bonding is on the course, and I get to play golf. He loves the sport.
Cleanliness, but my wife is sloppy too so that may not count.
Solitude.

I used to nanny professionally for a 10 yo boy and 12 yo girl and that has me a bit disillusioned now. They say "oh but it's different when they are your own," but I honestly like my adult time and money too much right now. Maybe I will think differently if my relationship status evolves in the next few years.

I never wanted them. never had the first paternal feeling. I think kids are cute at times, but I never wanted to have my own.
Also knew how much i enjoyed doing things solo and being able to do what I wanted when I wanted. It was easy for me. No regrets at all.

I would say this is your answer (NO). My wife was the same way- never wanted kids. she got a little maternal around her early 40s but that passed with menopause.

It gets better. Just wait till you see them hit a baseball, dance/sing on stage.
And the best part is when they get about 8+ and y'all get home from something and can tell them little frickers "Susie you go walk the dogs. Tommy you go take out the trash."
Then, sit on the lazy boy with a cold beer and put on Sportscenter.

It takes a short-sighted, narrow mind to complain that one's golf time is not as much as before because you have to take care of the kids. Good grief.
Jesus Christ. Is there still air up there on that high horse?
For me, College. As a single mom footing 100% of the bills, I was never brave enough to take the time off and not have a back up big enough, so I kept working. I have a career and I enjoy what I do, but I still would like to have had the experience.

I was totally fine with not having any til around age 34. The biological clock thing is real. It’s like a switch flipped & I suddenly realized it was now or never. I felt a ton of pressure to make a decision, and it was the first time I felt like I might regret it if I don’t have a baby.
I’m 37 now, and the feeling comes and goes. If circumstances were better, I would want to try to get pregnant now. As it is, I’m not sure things will be ideal before I’m too old. We’ll see. I think I can be happy either way, but I know I won’t regret it if I do have a child.

Thank you for the honest answer. I think it may hit close to home for more women than men, bc of the whole clock thing. Men don't have that concern, can easily have kids into their 50s, 60s, 70s. I wonder how it would change their perspective if they were on the same timetable we are.
