For 340hp it better not be. Ill buy a fricking 718 Cayman GTS for that.
The 718 Cayman is a heck of a car for the price especially when you consider it carries a P-car badge, well as long as you lay off the list of options. Pobst recently did back to back laps in the 718 C and the GT4 and the 718 was within 1.5 seconds, and while 1.5 seconds is an eternity on the track the GT4 was running R compound tires which basically means there is nothing between them.

All of this. Watched a few vids and the Blue color is sexy as frick.
I am not OT Baller enough yet for a ~80k car after a few options.
60 is probably going to be my max.

Fairly certain that my comment wasn't directed at you.
Anywho...

The Supra was intended to compete with the top level Mustangs and Camaros.
Doubtful, As throughout the supra history it was originally design to compete with the Datsun Z car and then late on in the Supra golden era of the MKIV is was design to kicked everyone's arse which it did.. and still is quite capable of doing today with the right tuning.

I agree that 340 is fine for a base Supra, but do you know what a ZL1 1LE Camaro would do to a 340hp Supra? And don't give me the it's for the corners bit because the ZL1 will still kick its arse around the track due to the power disparity.
Those numbers still aren't confirmed as far as I've seen .. Last I read the New Supra will sport a hybrid setup similar to that of the NSX and it's quite possible that that number is the gas engine alone..
More than likely to compete with the NSX,GTR and such the final # will need to be in the 450+ range..

The nissan 300zx is one of may all-time favorite cars. Would love to see this version slightly tweaked but overall the body style back then was kick arse.
They continued updating it slightly in Japan after it stopped being for sale here in 1996.

Very Nice! It's Good to see Toyota break out of their previous bland design school of thought.
If They could just make it drive unlike the soulless plastic piece of shite it inevitably will then they would have something.
JAP cars are made for people who don't know what a real cars drives like or too poor to afford one.

The most capable production vehicle on the planet (Land Cruiser) says hello.

Didn't even need to see it. Was all in when I read the name.

Jeez, the 1LE is a track day special and is designed primarily for corners. Plus after market adjustment it is a $80k car not exactly the range I expect the Supra to sell in. The ZL1 1LE will run up the pipes of a Z06 Z07 around a track, well for a couple of laps then the Z06 will have to hit the pits to cool down.
The new Supra will likely never have the status of the old Supras but keep in mind the Supra was a 40K car in 1995, Toyota has the option of making it a volume car or go the Godzilla route and make it a 100K halo, they seem to have every intention of pitting it against the US muscle cars short of the range toppers.
It is a real shame most ZL1 1LE Camaros will be bought by people that down own helmets.

When a Mustang has 420ish hp stock GT the Supra better be super light to not get laughed out of the building.
Considering how Toyota refuses to increase the HP of the 86 I seriously doubt they'll try to mess with the pony cars

It is doubtful that anyone will cross shop a Camaro and this Supra. Two entirely different cars with entirely different customer bases. Same with the Mustang and Challenger.

Loved that cat back in the 90's

If they're supposed to be so different why build the Supra at all when you already have the RC?

I'll take a GTR over a Z06, 350R, ZL1 1LE, etc. all day long

That car is fricking incredible.

GTR isn't the value it once was when it launched. Well over 100K now so you're comparing it to 911 Turbos price wise correct?

Have you driven one?
I have numerous times and I wouldn't.
They are quick, but numb to drive.. ..too much computer involvement and will never let you scare the shite out of yourself.
In that price point give me the C7 Z06 /Viper anyday.
