IMO Miles played a very conservative brand of football, and with the talent that he recruited Lsu was able to win a lot of games. The problem with it was that style no longer worked against other top teams in the league and Lsu needed someone to evolve the offense in order to compete.
After seeing the product this year, I'm certainly not convinced that Orgeron is the right man. We weren't even competitive, and let's not pretend that Lsu is lacking talent.
We should never lose by 30 to State. I bet that Bama beats them by that much. I bet Georgia beats them by 14.

This goes to show that the recruiting rankings are a very inexact science. Based on the product exhibited on the field last Saturday night, I have a hard time believing LSU has had top 10 recruiting classes the last several years. MSU outclassed us at just about every position. The thing that worries me the most is how the team seemed to quit midway through the 3rd quarter.
Had nothing to do with talent.
One team has a better coach than the other.

Wait. Wut?
Shorty looks at Defensive alignment. Yes. Shorty hasn't lost his mind. DTs are in fact part of the defensive line.

1. We weren't told this.. We SAID this. There is a very real difference.
2. The talent that O is working with should be pretty close to the level Miles had so the rest of the year will determine if "we're" the idiots for thinking the coach was interchangeable.

I know we are thin but that still shouldn't result in a complete beatdown vs MSU
We were thin, Lawrence was already out and Ed Alexander got hurt early. Then Farrell was ejected.
You don't think that had a material impact. Keep in mind our LBs are In their own younger and less developed than you would want.
It doesn't make sense to ignore the obvious IMO.

I still agree but how can you explain how undisciplined this team is, on both sides of the ball
We almost lead the nation in penalties, we have way too many players who commit stupid penalties. Sure the coaches aren't on the field making them but the level of discipline and effort completely falls back on the coaches.
I mean come on, we had players still shite talking while down 30

The penalties are unacceptable.
The Quitting is unacceptable.
The rest people can debate back and forth.
O is the HC so he gets the credit or the blame regardless.
It is his job to fix it.
We will see.
I hope he does fix it.
I want LSU to win period.

And who was in charge of the defense of line recruiting as well as being in Charge of all recruiting for at least a period of time?
He had 1 full recruiting class as the recruiting coordinator (2017), even then he was also interim coach for part of it - in which he pulled a crap load of talent on the lines. Along with when he was just d line coach in 16 and got Key late in ‘15
DL recruits - 2015 to now
Key - playing
Lawrence - injured
Alexander - injured
Logan - playing
Thornton - playing
Anthony - playing
Roddy - suspended
Valentine - kicked off team
Martin - injured
Chaisson - playing
Shelvin - DNQ
Farrell - playing
Thomas - not playing
Moffitt - not playing
6/14 DL recruits from last 3 years are actually playing meaningful snaps.
That’s a recipe for disaster no matter which way you slice it.

Not sure about that.
Are the base 4 normally Key, White, Alexander, and Thompson?
That's 2 SRs, 1 JR, and a SO.
We know White and Key are good. Thompson has proved he's an asset. Donnie is probably the only weak link. So he's Miles problem (not developed or bad evaluation of talent).
But I do agree with the DL assessment.
Minus some positional mistakes from the DBs the DL was just completely ineffective, and I wholly believe it was due to the fact that all the talent was not in the game.

I feel that in the near future they will face some recruiting problems. One of the biggest lost was Frank Wilson. I just don't see the Tigers with that super talent they've had in the past. You have to be able to sign the top recruits in your state like Dylan Moses and keytaon Thompson who both left the state and went to other SEC schools. Trouble ahead for the Tigers.

its not accurate to say our dline talent sucks. its accurate to say we dont have a dt like we are used too.
thats all im saying.

Brandon Harris was a 4-Star, Trey Quinn was a 4-Star, Frank Herron was a 5-Star, Clifton Garrett was a 5-star. The rankings don’t really mean much.
Players get high rankings all the time strictly based on potential. Sometimes they pan out, sometimes they don’t. Not all 4 stars are the same.

ranking are surprisingly accurate.
especially the higher rated players.
49% of 5 star athletes make it to the nfl.
recruiting sites pick 30 players out of 2500 kids and hit on 49 % of them. thats outstanding.
are our lines as talented as teams past? no.
are they talented enough where we shouldnt get manhandled by a sec bottom dweller?
of course.
come on.
you and i both know we have probabky 4 time the future nfl players that miss st. does.
only once in their history have they had more than 5 players drafted in a single draft. we have had more than 5 players drafted 7 times since 2007.
a close hard fought loss could be forgivable considering our youth. but talent isnt an excuse when our team quit at halftime. the team just quit.

Before MSU
We will contend for a SEC title, maybe lose two times
After MSU
You idiots this is a rebuilding year, we are young thanks to Les Miles, he left the team with no talent
We keep shifting blame, its crazy

we all know what it is. some people have zero problem with the way we played last saturday as long as its the coach they like.

This is incredibly false. If you look at recruit rankings, Mississippi State started 2 5*'s, 2 4*'s, and several high 3*'s on defense. Simmons was one of the top recruits in the country. Off the bench they have several 4*'s and 3*'s as well, especially on the D-Line.
On the offensive line their center and guards are 2-3*'s, but they have 2 4* tackles that hit us right at our defensive strength on the edge. And I can easily argue that their 2* QB is playing at a 4* level right now.
If you want to bring up recruiting classes at LSU, you have to recognize that the 2015 class was decimated by transfers, and other "highlights" of our classes included Harris and a bunch of tight ends and fullbacks that really aren't as much use. Les didn't even use the tight ends as much as O has.
