We did tackle football and smear the Aggie.
We had a merry go round kinda like this one in the school playground.
The boards in the center areas were missing so we could get a couple of people into the middle triangles and push the merry go round very fast. Fast enough to allow people on the outside to hold on with only their hands and be airborne. You generally couldn't hold on long and you'd get thrown out radially from the mgr.
One kid hit a nearby pine tree and was unconscious for a bit.
Ambulance came, fun over.
They shut us down after that with a steel post set in concrete chained to it.
It became the Unmerry Doesn't Go Round.

Wrong. Boys aren't tough anymore, it's because of gays and teachers and weakness. Nothing is good like it was when we were young, it's a shame.

Man, y'all had paint on yours? You must have been spoiled.
I am guessing your rich arse knew friends with sandboxes too?
We played in dirt...unless it rained, then we played in mud.

We called it," Blueberry Tackle" but I'm sure it was the same Tackle game as all the rest.

Grew up in the 80s and remember playing Red Rover. We had this super fat girl in our class and when her name was called there was a loud "ooooohhhhhh" from our non pc mouths.
We had a girl named Bambi in our class who would take the entire line with her. You better break for self preservation.

We had blacktop so didn't really play tackle football but games could get rough, played a lot of jailbreak as well. Lots of patches on my school pants through the years

Early 70's in Metarie we mostly monkey bar wrestled. Lotta broken bones came from that including when a kid came down feet first landing on my left hand immediately following our bout. Only broke the metacarpal of index finger. Dr. was impressed by older healed fractures that showed on the x-ray but not documented in file. He was quite impressed by my early bone setting successes.
That was elementary school. Middle school already had a kid driving his own car. Daily ambulances for OD's. Walls getting kicked down. Recess was for chain smoking and throwing rocks/bricks at nerds.

Played tackle and/or gorilla ball every recess . 80s

In elementary school we played war, using sticks as guns and potato masher grenades. Sometimes used sticks and limbs as swords and had sword fights. Teachers did not GAF. This was in the 80's.
We also had a long bench along the end of the basketball court and played King of the Hill. Two people would try to push each other off. If you pushed the other guy off you won.

Smear the queer, dodge ball, tetherball, tackle football with no helmets or pads, real 21 basketball where elbows were being thrown and if you were trying to make a shot close to the rim you might get tackled, doing tricks on the monkey bars, all kinds of fun things that I think no longer exist in recesses today.

We played smear the queer, same game except instead of tackling it was kissing. And you were out if you got a boner.

We played 'Kiss Chase' in 4th grade - everybody ran around and if you caught up to a girl you kissed each other.
I ran through a window during recess in 1st grade and landed on a desk. Not a scratch. I got scared I would get in trouble so I ran off to try and blend in with the crowd.

I was born in 61',so,I'm around your age.
We played "Murder Ball" on the Basketball court.Played with 3 Volleyballs.
You could really pop someone from the Foul Line with a properly inflated Volleyball.

I remember playing a game we called "No Man Stand". It's pretty self-explanatory.
Also, "no blood, no foul" basketball on a pebbled blacktop.

kids still play it, but there is a less offensive name for it. Can't remember what they call it.

Smear the queer was the best recess game ever invinted.
Duck Shoot was better. When I was in grade school, the vending machines served soda in paper cups. We'd take the empties and fill them with gravel, and crush the cups into a ball shape. At recess we'd play "Duck Shoot" with them.
The teachers made us quit when guys kept getting cut and bruised. Good times while it lasted, though!

Smeer the queer and tackle the man with the ball back in my day.
Felt good the other day attending a jr high football game. Walked over to the concession stand and passed a group of kids playing football. Probably 4th to 7 grade kids. All yelling tackle him. Get him. Actually tackeling and piling on. Good to see Tackle games still live out there

Tackle the man with the ball. Probably the most played game at our recess, back in the day.
All you needed was a football and some people. Didnt matter how many
