like i want to give equifax MORE opportunity to frick me over. i'm undecided if i'm willing to give them more personal info about me but don't want to leave myself more vulnerable either.
is this a waste of time and potentially more problematic?
what's the smart OTer doing about their compromised equifax records?

Im not in that demographic but I did sign up for the insurance and such through Equifax. Im pretty sure all my information was already in there when it was hacked previously so its not like im putting anything new on there

I swear I heard somewhere (maybe here or on the news) that when you sign up, you basically sign away your right to go after them if anything happens. WTF is that about?? I am for small govt, but we got three that determine all of our credit ratings (I know technically we determine our own credit ratings but they hold all the info). They do need some regulation and penalties when something like this happens.
What would happen if Chase, Capital One, etc. had this happen? The Feds would be all over them.

Gonna sit back and wait on that class action lawsuit! Nothing like a $5 check to make their frick up right!

But you're insured up to 1mm in losses. I doubt they could steal my identity and get much more than a couple grand before I notice

My father in law already got screwed by the Equifax stuff. Very next day someone was trying to get credit under his name.

Credit freeze
Costs $10 per credit bureau (so $30) and $10 to unfreeze. A company you have no directly established relationship with lets your information get hacked and then you have to pay them to protect yourself. That's some mafia protection money bullshite right there.

I did. What the frick else could these hackers steal? O no! I have to give my social security number to TrustedID. Who gives a shite? It's already out there. I'm already fricked.

Equifax is doing this for free. Get your facts straight.

I did a credit freeze last night for me and my wife. Equifax didn't ask for payment. Had to pay $10 each to Experian and Trans Union.
Well worth it given this mess.

I mean, they just announced it yesterday, so he's not carelessly ignorant on the issue. Plus it's temporary.

So you may have to pay if you unfreeze it in the near future.
And the other two still cost $10.

I believe the charge is only to unfreeze.

THIS!!! this is the kind of shite i'm afraid of because they are making it a little too easy to sign up for their little 'credit monitoring' solution.

No. I'm just monitoring my report through Credit Karma and Capital One's credit tracker to see if any unusual activity occurs.

Innovis is the "fourth" credit agency, so you should freeze that one too. Not as much info as the big three, but they have enough. They do not charge to freeze.
