That is some championship-level spin.

Anyone who believes she wrote one word of that book is fooling themselves, she simply did a poor job editing her ghost writer. lol
This is just Hildog pimping out that Clinton name for more Clinton cash from suckers.

It's straightforward. Look again.

Nah, I read it thru the first time.
And if that's how you interpret that passage, fine. I view it differently, especially taken in the context of the rest of that trainwreck of a book.

Not yet. The excerpts released thus far have been plenty revealing as well as quite cringeworthy.
I do plan to read it. For the entertainment value.

She doesn't actually claim Orwell's 1984 novel says anything. She simply uses an explanation from the book to explain authoritarianism. She uses an example from 1984 intentionally in order to make people compare, subconsciously, the bad guys to her political opponents.
Not really ground breaking stuff as political opponents have been paralleled with 1984s authoritarian regime almost as much as Hitler's Germany.

Thank God she's not our President.

Well, you can throw Michelle Obama into that same pot: "we need to CHANGE our History...". Of course, this window into a warped mind would deserve the loony emoticon...were it not that both Hillary and Michelle's perverse pov does not originate from the mind of ignorance or mere mis-judgment, but more likely that of the Original Principle ( ) of Envy and Contempt, and the effort to be perceived as being (morally) superior to the Creator.
I.e., ultimate Narcissism. Pure Evil. Whether Hillary, Michelle, et al knows this or not.
They are right about one aspect....'gotta break eggs to make an omelet'.

quote:Well when one alludes to a book and makes a point based on that allusion I think we can reasonably infer they're claiming that the book supports their point. But agree it's nothing groundbreaking as a leveled attack. It is more applicable, of course, considering the breadth of Trump's scortched Earth campaign against pretty much anyone whose head doesn't stay firmly planted up his arse or who didn't come out of his body.

I wonder if she appreciates the irony of this position.

Why are there so many Hillary Clinton topics here?
Because the MSM media machine is in overdrive lately with HRC stories to help push her book and restore her rightful place as the leader of the Democrat party, baw.
The PT board didn't do that. HRC and the MSM did that.

She's nuttier than squirrel shite.

Yes, I don't disagree. I meant more along the lines she doesn't actually say what the book is about.
She uses an example where the bad guy makes people believe things that aren't real.
She then says "this is exactly like Trump making you not believe the media!! LITERALLY 1984"
Nothing but a dumb pop culture reference to look smart on her part.
She's no more claiming the book is about trusting politicians than she is claiming it's about Trump, which is to say she isn't. She, herself, is claiming the media is the representation of the 5-fingered hand the bad guy (trump) is trying to get us to ignore.
I honestly can't believe a thread analyzing a passage in her book has gone this many pages and I can't believe I typed a post this long about it. frick you, bengal

She is stating that there are people who would subvert the truth and substitute it with their own reality, which is why we must trust in the government and media.
The profound irony is the example she gave of this truth subversion, from 1984, was actually a government official doing exactly what she is trying to warn against.
The woman is weapons grade stupid.

That I agree with. What she IS doing is using those rules for radicals you all talk about so much and accuse her opposition of what she is guilty of.
I am pretty sure the media in this scenario is actually the manipulator- not the bastion of hope she claims it to be

Was that a Hillary attempt to analyze? That's not analysis. There is no analysis in the prose posted.

As strange as it seems, both the left and the right use 1984 to demonize opposing views. I read a piece on the Atlantic about high school teachers using the book to rebuke Trump.
it's not strange
everyone hates authoritarianism...when your opponents use it
my side is pure and will only use it for good, however, so it's cool if we use it for [insert proclaimed policy]

She's saying that the story illustrates the importance totalitarian states place on abasing all competing centers of moral, intellectual, or actual authority.
while our system has most of those things tied up in partisan propaganda for one side (her side)
she's arguing for totalitarianism, just indirectly and while making it sound good (b/c her side is not corrupt or pure, comrade)
