You def need to utilize the studs to carry the most weight. No way any brick anchors would suffice on a floating unsupported brick wall.

Well. . . that's my opinion as well. But it seems like you and I are in the minority.

Regardless of others' opinions, I'm going to support this fricker on the backside of the brick. I can't trust the anchors to hold in a mortar joint of an unsupported brick wall.
