Drive 600 miles on a spare or on a cracked rim?

Drove to Dallas Friday night and had to stop twice to put a few pounds of air in a tire that started slow leaking. Couldn't see a nail or anything. Put on the donut spare and hauled the wheel to a tire shop - they found a small dent/hairline crack on the rim causing the leak. Supposedly the donut spare is very temporary and you shouldn't drive over 50 mph. Obviously I can't drive nearly 600 miles of interstate at 50 mph. Should I overfill the tire on the cracked rim and hope it continues as a slow leak and just keep adding air at regular intervals, or risk a blowout on a donut spare?

Neither is a good idea. You can't find a cheap rim that will fit until you get to where you're going?

Why not get a new rim at the tire shop?

I recently had a flat in Arches National Park in SE Utah and had to drive to Vegas in order to get a replacement tire (performance tire).....500 miles or so. I did 60 the entire way on the interstates with the donut on and it was fine.

Junkyard baw, go find a tire and rim

It's a luxury vehicle with a rim that would be very hard to find - and impossible on a Sunday. I don't mind driving slow on the interstate and taking longer to get home - it's more an issue of being a road hazard/accident risk driving that slow for that long on the interstate

JB weld the cracked rim and drive it.

Go to a tire shop or junk yard and buy a steelie in your size for 50-100$.

Buy a cheap wheel (even used if necessary), or a cheap steel rim and swap the tire over, and ride that until you decide to what to do.
A lot of places can repair the wheel crack as well. Find a local rim welding shop and they can repair it. I know a guy who had his wheel repaired by the guy on Greenwell Springs with the big sign.

You should be able to buy a cheap rim. Might not match your other 3, but at this point it doesn't matter. Just has to do the job.

You need a good rim job to set you straight.

You should be able to fit a cheap steel rim on your vehicle. Buy the steelie and buy the "luxury" rim when you get home.

Rim job... set straight... seems counterproductive

Are you still in Dallas? Pretty sure you could find a rim if you look hard enough. If you try to drive 600 miles on either, you're gonna end up on the side of the road or in a ditch. Write your ssn on your arm with a sharpie
