Please correct me where I may be wrong, but in watching the USMNT, when Jozy is in, he looks like a really lazy, low-energy forward. He also comes across as thin-skinned and is an easy target for opposing players to target which then gets him yellow/red cards.

That being said, the USMNT offense seems predicated on having a striker that occupies space up top, and even if Altidore is lazy, it seems like we do better when he is in.

Am I wrong about Altidore? Maybe he does a lot that I don't see.

For the record, I think:
Dempsey should be a sub in the last 20 mins,
Bobby Wood has a good work ethic
Wondo should not see the field in word class play.

Do we just have a dearth of forwards?

Yes, but Jozy is still a good forward for us. He's one of our best passers.

I don't think he's lazy, he just can't play a high energy, always pressing game.

He can have a short temper at times, but how many of our players don't?

If lazy is being on pace to break Donovan/Dempsey USMNT goal scoring record, then yeah, lazy.

Now that, my friend, is an elaborate & well dressed hook. Well done, chap, well done.

Jozy is already our third leading scorer of all time. He isn't great at pressing but we don't do a good job of pressing anyway. His set up play, especially his passing, is severely underrated. He's also one of our better set piece takers.

Against CONCACAF teams, Jozy draws a lot of double teams, freeing up a lot of space for wingers/mids to make runs. I don't think we have another forward that draws that attention.

I don't have nearly the soccer knowledge a lot on this board have, but I think the pairing of Jozy and Bobby at the top give us our best chance to win. Jozy gives Bobby someone to run off of, and Jozy has good strength and speed.

i honestly couldn't agree more with you regarding jozy. i just hate his demeanor out there for the most part. i also think he'd be well served to drop some of his muscle mass. i feel like he carries too much bulk, and would have more endurance if he weren't so hulked out. he'd still have the strength to hold up the ball and keep defenders off too. unfortunately though, he is still an important player for the us, and is needed at the moment.
