Youre entirely right. I left years ago. Live in Dallas now. Nola is a place to visit, not live.

I feel bad for the long time residents of NOLA. But you? You should have known better.

Im pretty sure I saw a segment about your family on the news the other day, aren't y'all moving back to Pittsburgh? Maybe it was another couple from Pittsburgh moving away because of the shitty living conditions

I moved to Houston several years ago and wish I would've done it as an infant. Why people continue to stay in those shite states and constantly be abused by crooked politicians and minorities....who knows...

I understand your frustration with NOLA but are you sure about Denver? Have friends who are looking to get out of there. They have lived there almost 15 years but say things are going to hell with all the new arrivals. They say crime is a problem there and the homeless population is out of control with very aggressive panhandling all over the city. Bottom line...every city in America is dealing with the same issues.

Lived in Nola for almost a decade, and I'm sad to say...you're not wrong on a lot of that. While we're not as far down the drain as Chicago or Detroit, we are not far behind. And much like those cities, our "leaders" make it their priority to pander and cater to the lowest common denominator instead of making the hard decisions and taking the hard line stances these cities require to rehabilitate. All the while, we see daily examples of how absolutely incompetent and corrupt just about every city department is.

There are very good people here who would give you the shirt off their backs, but unfortunately for every one of those, there is another (maybe two) who would just as soon attack you for your phone and wallet. And there's always the risk that you could be collateral damage in a drive by shooting (happened last week right off Magazine).

It makes me sad because you wonder how truly great this city could be, and then you look around and see the rampant problems and the politicians that keep getting voted in office who only make it worse.

I never understood the appeal of New Orleans. I'd no more want to live there than I would want to live in Detroit.

I'm with you bro. Except I think that about the whole state. I was born and raised in Louisiana but it is a shite hole. I can't wait to get out of here.

The amount of homeless people we saw while in Denver was depressing.
