I feel bad for the kids affected by DACA ending

But it was necessary. DACA was nothing more than a shield that Democrats put up to allow a "slippery slope" of immigration. They say you can't send the kids back because they've been here their whole life. But you can't send their parents back either, who will take care of those kids? It's nothing more than an anchor for illegals who make it here to use to try and justify being here, when in reality they have no claim.
We do need to rework our immigration system. I wouldn't mind giving the DACA kids priority, especially the ones who are college educated or skilled workers. They're great kids who feel American at heart, but something has to be done legally. Not just "oh let them stay because they've been here and it makes us feel warm and fuzzy." That's not how a country works.

Which makes sense. They are American in every sense but country of birth.

Sure you can

Look at it as an opportunity to bring the successful American culture back to their homelands! Peace Corps II.

I'd love to see an amnesty bill for those that have never convicted a crime (hell tack on no gov assistance for x years if you want) coupled with comprehensive boarder enforcement/immigration. Put into place an e-verify system, tech on the boarder, do away with anchor babies, etc so that we actually control illegal immigration rather than just pretending we do and then turn those that are here illegally (but spotless records) into tax paying citizens.
I get none of that will happen though.

Supposedly Congress has six months to fix it

Which is how it should be. Obama had no business pushing this via EO in the first place.

Curious if the Senate can rally 50 votes

Let the DACA kids stay and apply for citizenship. Send the parents back to their countries of origin and let them apply for citizenship. What's not fair about that?

No.
Everything else ok. Legal permanent residency, yes.. . but they will never vote.
The only way to earn citizenship is to go home and return the right way. Those who came as minors can also earn citizenship through 8 years active duty military service.

Why? Voting is the cornerstone of a democracy and what the founders of our country fought for. It's what makes America great to borrow a phrase.

This is a much better solution that what the board suggest. I want to reward those kids that earn it. 8 years military works.

This is NOT a fricking democracy, although you want it to be.

No they did not. They did not fight to give citizenship to anybody that happened to make it across a border.
Citizenship and being an American is special and sacred. It should not be taken or given lightly.

Our military has been downsized. If and when the military hires, need to hire Americans. Jobs are needed.

And we've done nothing to stop the next wave. Or the next. Or the next.
