I don't know if Canada was wanting a field goal, but as another poster commented, the OP was correct that BEFORE the play Canada was cussing up a storm in the pressbox. If you actually watch him, he very clearly is excited about going for it. The OP tried to double down saying he looked pissed about it.
There's no getting around it. Some posters just can't handle not having some controversy to whine about.

From my point of view it looked like he was pumped up to punch it in the end zone. His expression after the play was very different than before.
