Damn thing got awesome gas mileage too. I could drive from my parents' house to Auburn, which was normally about a 4 hour drive and not even use a 1/4 of a tank of gas. This was with me making the drive in about 2.5 hours. Once I got that car on the highway it very rarely saw under 100mph.
I love hyperbole as much as the next guy, but come on, man.
Ok, a 4 hour drive. Let's say very conservatively you averaged only 50 MPH, that would be 200 miles. So you were getting 800 miles on a tank.
According to a quick Google search, the 85 Prelude had a 15.9 gallon gas tank. You were getting 50 mpg? EPA estimates were 29 mpg on the highway for that car.

2000 4Runner owner checking in...just hit 250K and still running great, hopeful it keeps up.
When it does crap out, I'll buy another 4Runner.

the 87 4runner is the best
Did the 87 have the removable roof? I had a buddy in high school that had a Four Runner that you could remove the roof off the back like the old school Broncos, but I can't remember what model year it was.

y first car was a 99 4Runner. It was 9 years old when my parents bought it for me & I drove it for about 10 years
Doesn't not compute

Jeez everyone is ripping me a new one in this thread. Did anyone read the word "about" in the sentence? I can't remember exactly which year I bought it in (early 2007ish) or drove it til (mid 2016ish). My timeline was off a little bit, my apologies.

We bought a '98, drove it until last December when we replaced it with a newer car and gave the '98 to my daughter. Still going strong.
