They were peacefully protesting and did not start the violence. But they should be condemned since they escalated the violence after being attacked.

As disgusting their views may be, to violently suppress free speech and the right to peaceful assembly is wholly and completely un american and ANTIFA is no better than who they claim to oppose.
Violence and suppression of free speech and peaceful assembly is a hallmark of fascism.
