I don't think Cleveland has the leverage. This is and will probably be the best deal they get for Kyrie. Boston believe they shared all information on IT and Cleveland is using the hip to try and get the player it originally wanted in the deal.
Ok, then void the deal and who is the better team? Like I said, Kyrie is still under contract for 2 years with Cleveland. I don't care what their relationship off the court is, the Cavs are a better team than Boston with Kyrie on the floor. Boston knows that, especially knowing that IT4 is hurt pretty serious. Boston has ZERO leverage! If Lebron walks, then the Cavs build the team around Kyrie. Pretty simple!
One more thing, the Cavs have a great partnership with The Cleveland Clinic, which is one of the best hospitals in the world. If the Cavs had anybody from the Clinic as part of this physical, then I 100% believe Cleveland's stance on the injury over Boston's.

The only team that can give Cleveland a better offer is Phoenix. But I don't think they're willing to give up booker and a pick or Jackson/bledsoe (and they shouldn't)

This is a homer take.
Thomas' injury was priced in. Now, could the hip be worse than Cleveland thought at the time? Sure. But, I'd doubt that Boston is going to sweeten the pot. Cleveland isn't going to get a better deal than this, even with Thomas' injury IMO.

The most I can see Boston sweetening the pot by is maybe a late 2nd or two.
More than that and Cleveland can let the deal fail and have a pissed off Kyrie sticking around.

I want the Cavs to void it just because I would laugh so hard at the awkwardness of it all.

Agreed. After the trade, people were stating that nothing could make opening night (Cavs/Celtics) any better. This could, this definitely could.

Yep. Boston still has all the leverage.

Training Camp would be awkward af if the trade is voided

Yeah people talk about how Boston wouldn't want this to fail so they have to pony up. What about Cleveland?
There's way more on the line here for Boston. If the deal falls through, now they're stuck with an injured and likely unhappy IT4. How is that really comparable to CLE's situation?

Can't the NBA take him to like an arbitrator third doctor and see what he comes up with?
If the CLE physicians thinks IT4 is possibly out for the season(if he actually thinks that) then what good does a 3rd party doctor's opinion do?

Lol Boston has zero leverage. It's why they gave up IT, Jae, zizic and a pick in the first place.

This is and will probably be the best deal they get for Kyrie.

Yeah, I could see that. But, that's the equivalent of telling the Cavs to take it or leave it.

It's a really interesting situation where you can actually argue each side has leverage and/or no leverage.
Posted on 8/28/17 at 8:52 am to moneyg
Which in effect it is.
Where is Cleveland going to find a comparable deal given that the centerpiece is the pick, not IT or Crowder?

The draft pick right is being way overvalued. First this is not a slam dunk top 5 pick. Some think this Nets pick could be as low as 10 with all the tanking teams. The Nets have no reason to tank, acquired some talent in offseason, and play in a very weak East.
You can throw out Zizic too. He's never played in the NBA and you don't know what you are getting.
The only sure thing the Cavs are getting in this trade is Jae Crowder. This hip injury for Thomas could be a career ender. Yes the pick they got would be nice to get a young player but they are still trying to win a title. If IT can't play, you are giving Kyrie away for basically a role players and 2 huge unknowns.
For those saying IT hip was priced in...No. the Cavs made this deal assuming IT would be part of a title run. That's goal number 1 still in LBJ last season there.
I think the Cavs should walk away completely and see what happens. If Kyrie wants to hold out, that's no worse than having no IT for now.
Anyone know the penalty to Kyrie if he holds out? Fines?

No you can't. Some of you are really delusional. Bosoton needs Kyrie more than CLE needs the assets they just acquired. It's that simple.
