Mayor's office purportedly told the City Council the project is too complex to continue.

Has New Orleans ever put a mayor in jail for pure incompetence?

City temporarily halts plans for Bourbon Street construction starting at St. Louis Street.
The massive street construction set for parts of famed Bourbon Street, has been halted, and the reason centers around the stormy summer conditions and the recent shake-up at the department of public works.
"Due to significant rain delays, unforeseen site conditions and the overall complexity of the project, the city is currently evaluating the schedule and budget for the remaining blocks; we expect to release a revised schedule in the coming weeks."

They need to charge that company everyday this shite ain't done on time.
The company that didn't even bid on the project because the City decided to illegally award it to their maintenance contractor to keep from having to go out to bid? If you thought the stormwater pumps story or the statues were going to be the most embarrassing story out of N.O. this year...just wait.

The contract will have liquidated damages but no way they would run into them with weather and adverse conditions.
And it's not the contractor but the city that would be responsible if it was an illegal contract.

Perhaps a stupid question.
Is this area already dug up? If so holy hog what a cluster. So they will just leave the street dug up for who knows how long?

So, they're just going to stop with the street all dug up? Makes sense.

No they are finishing blocks 100-400. Not starting 500-800.

Some holes might be useful. More convenient place for Bama fans to poop than potted plants.
