I am curious to what you mean by "abused"
Coaxing spouses or elderly parents to die so that you can get an early inheritance or reap other financial benefits. Essentially, having someone do it for selfish reasons, and not merely no longer wanting to see someone suffer.
I see that there are restrictions and that a healthy individual can't just be euthanized. However, there is a slippery slope here.

By made clear you mean communicated to a handful of people in a now dormant language so that they could tell someone who would tell someone who would write it down so someone could read it later and add it to something so it could be voted on and eventually published?
Crystal. Clear.

Right, and no physician has ever accepted money on the side to do something that he shouldn't.

Death panels? You want Obama deciding when to murder your grandma?

My parents are going to do this...They are only 78 now and in good health, but I can see it coming.

Yet the POS killers on death row, or life sentences get every medical treatment available to keep them alive for years on the tax payers dime... Something seems off here.

That could happen, but in addition to losing your license you could be an accomplice to murder, c'mon

A last important lesson that can be learnt is that the legalization of euthanasia in the Netherlands did not result in a slippery slope for medical end-of-life practices. Besides religious or principal-based arguments, the slippery slope argument is the mainstay of opponents of the legalization of euthanasia. Briefly, the argument states that: if we allow A (the use euthanasia at the request of terminally ill patients), B (abuse of euthanasia, that is, ending the life of vulnerable patient groups without their consent) will necessarily or very likely follow. B is morally not acceptable; therefore, we must not allow A (Griffiths et al. 1998; van der Burg 1992). Our studies show no evidence of a slippery slope. The frequency of ending of life without explicit patient request did not increase over the studied years. Also, there is no evidence for a higher frequency of euthanasia among the elderly, people with low educational status, the poor, the physically disabled or chronically ill, minors, people with psychiatric illnesses including depression, or racial or ethnic minorities, compared with background populations (Battin et al. 2007).

People do shady things all the time.
Realistically, I see this being more of a problem with family members pushing this more than physicians running an evil side business.

Terrible to take your life early. Jesus made clear he wants us all to suffer till the very end. None of this shortcut shite.
And of course we know that anything Jesus wants must be encoded into the law so that ALL people, not just Christians, can have the benefit of being told what to do by members of one religion.

The real reason this isn't even an option is that roughly 40% of medical costs in this nation are spent in your final year or so of life.
Yep. Follow the money.

I predict a future where old people are pressured to "choose" euthanasia. I also predict a future where the government healthcare gives it as the only option. We are fricked. And I honestly don't care that I sound like a crazy person to some people.

Its considered humane to put an animal to sleep but according to some humans must suffer until their dying breath. I never understood this line of thinking.

You spoiled arse LSU fans don't have a clue what suffering is like as we do.

Today the life expectancy is about 10 more years than it was in the 1950s. Antibiotics were not available until after WWI so the life expectancy before then was even shorter.
So are you saying the advancement of medicine has allowed people to "suffer" more.. You are saying "he wants us all to suffer til the very end" does that mean living is suffering?
If someone is brain dead and a machine is the only thing keeping them alive, are they suppose to wait until they die while on a machine?
There are people with cancer who decide to take treatments, knowing they will not be fully healed, but they want to live as long as possible, even if it means they will have to suffer worse than they ever have. In other words, treatment would only prolong their life.. So is it okay to prolong life to suffer?
And when someone has Alzheimer's.. Are they really aware they are suffering? No. So when they are just there wouldn't it be more humane to end their life?
