I am looking into hunting someone's property around Glenmora area and person wants 6 people on 300 acres. I would rather just 4 and got to thinking what is yalls opinion on how many acres per hunter is reasonable??

1-2. I like my space.
Whats the density of deer and type of land?

max of 1 hunter per 100 acres.

It is a mix of Pine and hardwood bottoms. Has 4 wheeler trails through it and lanes but no major plots cleared. I mainly bow hunt now and probably would never have 4-6 people at one time out there.
I was just curious on people's opinion of how many people they have per acre on lease. I know it will vary for each area and type of land.

Our lease this year is 1 per 85 acres. last year it was 1 per 50 acres give or take but he had about 4 members that hunted only a couple of times. We are clear cut on about 400 of our 680 acres and the land owner cut the lease in half so we kept dues the same and only had the people come back who were in it last year and still interested which was 8 of the 12.

What kind of terrain? Thats way too many on CRP surrounded by farmland.
If its heavy timber surrounded by more deer habitat you may be fine at six.
How often will they hunt?

I wouldn't go anything less than 1 hunter per 100.

Depends on the layout, but 1 hunter per 200 acres is ideal.

Only way I would consider it is if we did 4 people and it would be family member or friends. It is cheap and owner says deer are thick because not hunted. I know the owner so this is mainly a pay my property tax and hunt land sort of deal.
Again was just trying to get a general idea of what people thought in regards to how many people should hunt area.

Six could work on 300 if all friends/family could you just buy out the other spots and keep it at 4?

ive been on a 300 acre lease with 4 hunters and am currently on a 160 acre lease with 2 hunters. Honestly, it all depends on terrain and lease rules. I never felt like our leases were over crowded or overhunted. On the 300 acre lease, opening weekend was the only time all 4 of us were out there. most weekends it was just two of us spread out over 300 acres. Same with my new lease. My partner tagged out in the first 2 weeks of the season so i practically had the place to my self all year.

If it were me and I had the means I would do 1 hunter on 300 acres. I like my space and independence

Haven't driven property yet so may not even be worth it but I would rather 4 people to split cost and we can just put up stands and not have to worry about each person having "his" spot. I also live in Lafayette and don't want to drive up there and bow hunt by myself.
We would prly never have more than 2 or 3 hunting at a time anyway.

We have 3 on 250ac. 2 would probably be ideal on this spot since some areas are limited accessibility. We are trying to expand to about 300ac, but it really would be more about keeping other landowners out than adding hunting space. (access route for others crosses us)

You can get away with 1/50 of its hills, creeks, and wooded.
Ideally you'd want 1/100 but how often is every member gonna be there hunting.
I looked at a club once that was 600 acres and they wanted 14 members and most members had wives and / or kids that hunted. I backed out and voiced my opinion. The president told me that he tried to find guy's on shift work so when half the members are hunting, the other half is at work.
The land I'm on now was a club of 7 on 300. Wasn't as bad as you may imagine. Now it's just 2 of us

100% depends on the people and how often they hunt.
You can fit a bunch of people per hundred if they're all like minded and get along. If they have different ideas, 1 per 600 acres is about right.

The lease I'm in is 2000 acres with 20 members. Half of which don't hunt.
We have 80 acres of family land that we have 5 stands on. But usually on 2 or 3 of us hunting. But it's very hilly and thick as hell so you don't feel like you're on top of one another.

My club is also around Glenmora and we are close to 1 hunter/100. I know the area and what you describe shouldn't be an issue given the terrain. Also as others have said, aside from opening day you will most likely never have all members there at the same time.
Just out of curiosity which side of Glenmora will you be on?
