Yea, so here we go again with another hurricane threat. Too far out right now to know if they will get hit again, but sucks having to deal with another hurricane. We still haven't booked a backup plan as we thought we would be good to go. It's definitely up in the air at this point.

I feel your pain. Let's just hope the people on the islands are ok. They lost most of their shelter to Irma.

The Somerset on Grace Bay is currently open and welcoming guests. The resort's prized stretch on Grace Bay beach is once again pristine along with its award-winning pools. Fortunately, The Somerset was built to hurricane standards and is doing remarkably well. The resort sustained some vegetation and roof tile loss. Repairs will be scheduled to minimize impact to our guests.
Island and resort update: Providenciales International Airport has resumed full operations.
Fall season dining at the resort will resume on October 15, as scheduled. This includes breakfast and lunch service. Dining service during this quiet season (beginning Oct. 15) is available with 24-hour notice. Grocery stores nearby are fully stocked, and The Somerset continues to offer its shopping service. Most restaurants in the area that are traditionally open during the quiet season are fully operational.
Many of the water sport and excursion operators are open and looking forward to helping guests enjoy their island vacation.

Yea obviously our vacations are so very minor compared to people's lives. But yea, it is a bummer. Although the models have shifted significantly east. If it goes 50-100 miles east of TCI, they should avoid the worst of it.
Posted on 9/19/17 at 8:52 am to buffbraz
Looks like St Croix and Puerto Rico are going to take it head on. TCI appears to be far enough north at the point.
I'm no hurricane expert. Just looking at the predicted path.

Latest updates have the hurricane going anywhere from 20-100 miles to the east and north of the hurricane. Obviously going to be really close. But the islands may miss the worst of it.

I've been preparing for this weekend every weekend for 20 years. Now it's time to deliver.

Growing up in Louisiana and watching hurricane season unfold every year , I just won't book a Carribean vaca in Aug or Sept. Too much risk

Mahootney,
Have ya'll decided about your trip? Looks like most of the hotels will be open. Haven't heard much information after Maria?

Coco Bistro will be back in operation, you are set.

Thank you all for your concern and encouragement after Irma and then Maria. Your support really means a lot to Stuart, Steve and the team.
All of Coco Bistro and cocovan employees have been accounted for and all are safe. Both restaurants suffered landscaping damage but we were very fortunate that no major damage was sustained.
We have been working tirelessly to try and make both restaurants as beautiful as they were pre hurricane. The good news is cocovan is back open for its regular scheduled hours from tonight (Saturday September 23rd) and will also be open this Monday (Monday September 25th).
Coco Bistro is not too far behind and we will be re opening Wednesday October 4th.
We look forward to seeing you all again soon.

That's good news thanks for the info. I think most places will be open. We were just wondering if it would be better to go back there when it was 100%, although we will have to pay delta fees since no waivers.

IMO, you go to T&C to lay on the beach and/or do water sports. There isn't really a night life and things are pretty spread out. In this respect I say you should go.
If you do go, on Thursday night they have a "fish fry" where a lot of the local restaurants and craftsmen gather in one place and you can sample things from all over the island.

Not if they don't already have reservations. It's usually a months long waiting list.

The Sands at Grace Bay is pleased to announce that it will be welcoming guests post Hurricanes Irma and Maria with its re-opening set for this Saturday, September 30th, 2017. Likewise, Hemingway’s Bar & Restaurant at The Sands will be re-opening on the same date. Located on Providenciales, the resort’s entire staff has been busy at work clearing debris and any fixing cosmetic damages caused by the storms to ensure that all is ready to go for the official re-opening date. While the two hurricanes caused much damage to the many of the surrounding islands as well as to parts of several residential, non-tourist parts of Providenciales, Grace Bay Beach was spared of incurring the brunt of these storms, thus, The Sands at Grace Bay did not suffer any structural damage. None of the resort’s recently remodeled 114 studio- and suite-style accommodations were impacted and all are fully functional with electrical power, A/C, water, and Wi-Fi to provide guests with plush comfort throughout their stay. The island’s airport is open and actively receiving flights. Ships have been arriving to the island since just after Hurricane Irma to deliver all commodities needed and grocery stores are open and re-stocked. Many other area resorts and restaurants are also open or opening in the coming week to cater to the guests and to ensure the continued success of the island’s tourism sector. “We are thrilled to share the news with our past and prospective guests, and our travel partners that we are re-opening our doors this coming Saturday,” said Mona Beeson, General Manager of The Sands at Grace Bay. “We understand that there has been some confusion in the marketplace as to the level of damages the area has sustained. Rest assured that we would not be opening if we were not 100% certain that we will be providing our guests with our full range of amenities and the very best in customer service that we are known for. “Guests will also be pleased to know that Grace Bay Beach, acclaimed as of the world’s best and most award-clad beaches, remains just as spectacular as ever,” continued Beeson. “In fact, waves from the storms broke at the reef and actually brushed more sand upon the island’s shores in this area giving us an even more expansive beach. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Turks and Caicos’ Grace Bay Beach.” In addition to offering some of the most affordable rates along Provo’s world-famous Grace Bay Beach, guests of The Sands at Grace Bay also benefit from the following free resort amenities during their stay: three free-form swimming pools; complimentary use of watersports equipment – including kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, snorkel gear and Hobie Cats; bicycles for nearby island exploration; a weekly Manager’s cocktail party; a tennis/basketball court, and many other exclusive offerings. The resort’s spacious studio and suite accommodations are equipped with all the comforts of home with most suite units featuring modern kitchens and appliances, dining and living room areas, screened-in balconies, washer & dryers, free Wi-Fi and more. Part of the celebrated Hartling Group of resorts located on Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, the re-opening of The Sands at Grace Bay coincides with the re-opening of its sister properties The Palms located on Grace Bay Beach and The Shore Club, situated on Long Bay Beach.
