Does Joe need a history lesson? Great he carried a football.

70s union stuff in BR was terrorist level bullshite and he was in the middle of it as one of their street thugs. And a convicted counterfeiter.

Everyone second chances, ok, blah, blah. But don't put a statue up of the man. His numbers retried. Please leave it at that. Embarrassing.

And PS. Some of your biggest swinging donors feared for their families lives in the union shite he was a part of. Better think about that.

I agree. No statue of a convicted felon.

I was waiting for this.

The College Football Hall of Fame inducted him and he was not stripped of his Heisman. Deal with the statue. It's happening.

You guys really need to learn to separate the athlete from the person. He is getting a statue for his greatness on the field not because of his life off the field.

You'll get blasted on here, but I can understand your point.

I would like to hear more of the union stories. I've never heard them.

I completely agree. I don't think USC is rushing (pun intended) to put up any OJ statues. No felon monuments.

Honestly, I don't really care one way or the other what LSU decides to do.

I understand that some people have a more intimate knowledge of what Cannon did and that they, therefore, don't feel it is appropriate to continue to honor him.

However, I see a man that paid his debt to society, is remorseful and has spent the remainder of his adult life trying to atone for his actions. He's spent over 20 years working at the prison as a dentist.

What else do you want the man to do at this point? For a "Christian nation" people here sure don't like to forgive very much.

I told many LSU big wigs no statues for any players, any time, any sports.

Does LSU know his pre LSU, Istrouma days?

Billy has a troubled past, and I am glad he has gotten his life on the right track.

But LSU no matter the athlete, should have no statues for sport figures.

Our true heroes are our mothers, fathers, teachers, preachers, and even those fail us at times.

I do not want LSU to become like Penn St. and end up putting up a statue to gridiron figure, only to see his true light of covering for one of his own and have to pull it down.
