Football it literally the easiest sport to have good grades in, all games are thursday night or Friday night and only one a week. Try playing baseball, soccer, or basketball where you have two+ games a week or a tournament 5 hours away all weekend. It really sucks having two away games during the week and not getting back until midnight on a tuesday.
There's absolutely no way I'd let my freshmen son play Varsity football unless he was above average in size AND talent. Let him learn the basics and play with kids his size.
Given that, you'll be cock blocking him as a freshmen on varsity will be pulling some serious wool.
