Proven head coaches to do what? Go 9-3 and play in the peach bowl?
Wasn't that your argument for why O is the savior? Going 9-3?
You can't argue that there were much much better options out there. I'm an O supporter, but let's not kid ourselves here.

Hell no. 9-3 is completely unacceptable. I'm not sure where you thought I said that would be fine. You would be ok with that? I think we'll be favored in 10 games this year and maybe 11 depending on how Florida looks early.

Sure I can, I might be wrong, but you might also be wrong. After Jimbo was out, I really didn't have much preference between Herman and Orgeron. Fedora was my next pick after that.

First, you are obviously not a Coach O supporter. Nonetheless, you said there were "much better" options out there. Name someone much better?

Larry Fedora? Not only was he not any better, but he is not going anywhere either, as he had just gotten a new raise and contract extension good to 2022, while Tennesse had previously tried to bribe him away from NC before they ended up hiring Butch Jones with far more money than he was making and couldn't do it because Fedora loves his job and his family loves NC.

Mike Gundy, this past June 2016 had also just received a contract extension and a raise to $4.15 million dollars a year and he also wasn't going anywhere either because as he says all the time Oklahoma State is his dream job.

And that leaves Dan Mullins from MSU who is already making about the same amount as Les Miles was when Miles got fired. So he would have had to be given a raise and would have been quite a bit more expensive than Coach O, and his overall record is decent but not that great. I think Alleva saw him as a solid but not great coach.

Moreover, Coach O grew up in Lousiana, knows Louisiana like the back of his hand, already knows all of the high school coaches, and outside the Rant was loved by the LSU fan base, the LSU players, the former LSU players, by the recruits, and by the assistant coaches, while Dan Mullen, on the other hand, was an outsider.

Not to mention, that had Mullen got the job as opposed to Coach O we probably would have lost that outstanding recruiting class we ended up with and had to pay for it down the line, and Coach Mullin would have also brought in his own coaching staff. So we could have kissed Coach Dave Aranda good bye. As he probably would have ended up with Coach Herman at Texas.
