Orgeron's trajectory since Ole Miss is super positive

He's now managed two top tier programs in crisis situations (if you consider USC top tier which is debatable). He should have landed the SC job and I'm glad he landed here. The guy is underrated and this season will prove it.

What's so funny second fiddle?

If USC isn't top tier, then neither is LSU. Clean off those Purple and Yellow shades.

Paul Allen played second fiddle to Gates

Going 6-2 Twice is going 12-4.
12-4 is akin to going 9-3 and then starting next season 3-1.
Is that underrated?

The teams Orgeron has beaten at LSU:
4-8 Missouri
7-6 Southern Miss
5-7 Ole Miss
7-6 Arkansas
8-5 A&M
9-4 Louisville

Maybe. Considering apparently people around here would have preferred Larry Fedora or Mike Gundy and those guys routinely go 9-3.

Are you serious?
Both Gundy and Fedora are proven head coaches. Ed Orgeron is not
Gundy 104-50
Fedora 74-44
Orgeron 22-29

Yeah, I always wanted a DL coach with a 40% winning record as a head coach to take over at LSU.

Proven head coaches to do what? Go 9-3 and play in the peach bowl?
Those would have been terribly uninspiring hires and would have been no better than keeping Miles. Once it was clear Jimbo wasn't coming, I was fine to give Orgeron a shot. I liked the way the team played under him.
Anyway, why don't we let the season play out before we crown or shite on Orgeron? If he sucks, he won't be around very long. My biggest fear with bringing in someone like Gundy or fedora was that they'd be given some leeway to have a few mediocre seasons, whereas Orgeron must win now. Three losses this year will be unacceptable. Hell, even two will be tough to stomach.

I'd prefer any coordinator that has proven they can run a successful side of the ball or any head coach that has run a successful program.
hell Dave aranda has a better resume than O. We should've hired him.

Did you think Nick Saban was an uninspiring hire?

You can't argue that there were much much better options out there. I'm an O supporter, but let's not kid ourselves here.
