The rematch doesn't bother me, but the fact that it could be rivals takes some of the luster off the regular season matchup.

The rematches in the SECCG were never between Auburn-Bama, Florida-Georgia, etc. The rivalries within the division are most intense when compared to cross-divisional ones.

I also hate that the Big 12 is on shaky ground. As a traditionalist I'm tired of losing rivalry games because of super conferences. So why if Texas goes PAC 12 and SEC gains Okie State and OU. That means LSU gets to forge rivalries within the state of Oklahoma every year and travels to traditional SEC places like Athens and Knoxville once every 20 years. That sucks...

Do you not know your school' history

They had the chance to play UGA every year and they declined.

Huh? The cross rival is Florida. If it was Georgia, then it would be ashame that we wouldn't travel to Gainesville often. Expansion has made those games fewer and far between. The identity of the SEC is being forced to spread to Missouri, Texas A&M, and who knows where else in the near future.

Did you even look at the series history
LSU did not play Georgia for 25 years from
1953 to 1978.
Someone may be able to let me know when the SEC stopped allowing schools to make their own schedule but using my mind I could say maybe around 1978.

You say that the LSU game with Georgia is important if it was important why didn't LSU play them when they had the chance. They could have played Georgia every year if they wanted to

Don't worry, you won't have to play them twice.

I am not the one who claims that the UGA game with LSU is important.
It wasn't important in the 50's 60's nor 70's when they could play each other every year
All I said was research your school's history.
Only reason I knew this is my long time on again off again GF is a UGA alum.
I have found myself becoming a slight fan of UGA so I research their history. I know the schools they have history with in the SEC and the ones they do not.
So when you made a point about LSU not playing in Athens I jumped on it.

I guess you are upset because you are wrong that is all right with me. I take no offense for your stupidly the first time.

Let's apply this to the first 20 years of the conference.

1996 - Nebraska vs. Colorado
1997 - Nebraska vs. Kansas State
1998 - Kansas State vs. Texas A&M
1999 - Nebraska vs. Kansas State
2000 - Oklahoma vs. Texas
2001 - Colorado vs. Texas
2002 - Colorado vs. Oklahoma
2003 - Oklahoma vs. Texas
2004 - Oklahoma vs. Texas
2005 - Texas vs. Texas Tech
2006 - Oklahoma vs. Nebraska
2007 - Missouri vs. Kansas
2008 - (I have no idea - the infamous 3 way South tie year)
2009 - Texas vs. Nebraska
2010 - Nebraska vs. Texas A&M (Missouri eliminated based on head to head with Nebraska, A&M 2-2 vs. the other 4 while both Oklahoma schools were 1-2)
2011 - Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State
2012 - Kansas State vs. Oklahoma
2013 - Baylor vs. Oklahoma
2014 - Baylor vs. TCU
2015 - Oklahoma vs. TCU
2016 - Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State

Playing during the year usually assumes you won't see them again in the CCG.

quote:

In the PAC 12 any of the California schools can play twice

PAC mandated the California schools play each other. They've had 2 rematches in 6 games, both were between California schools.

quote:

In the SEC LSU/ Florida Bama/ Tennessee and Auburn/ Georgia can play twice

This has never happened, and we've only had 6 rematches in 25 some games.

quote:

I am unsure about the ACC and their schedule but isn't Florida St and Miami in different divisions

Permanent Rivals. There have been 4 rematches in the ACCCG, three of them between rivals. Probably due to how loaded the football schools are compared to basketball schools.

This so much. My school has lost rivalries with Pitt, VT, Penn State and Maryland because of conference realignment and it sucks.

Conference realignment in general sucks. No way we should be in the Big 12, Maryland in the Big 10, Mizzou in the SEC, Colorado in the PAC, etc.

Yes, I hate rematches and I hate conference championship games. I do really hope it screws the Big XII out of a playoff spot with an A&M over K-State style upset

The whole thing was reactionary, if their focus was the playoffs.
But we know it's all about the additional money.

the stupidest thing the Big Ten did under Leaders and Legends was to have Michigan and Ohio State in different divisions...

I think a auburn-uga or UT-bama LSU/auburn-Florida* SEC title would be awesome. It's different because it's much more rare.

If the big 12 remains the same 10 teams UT-OU could happen fairly often.

*i understand that those Florida matchups aren't as big of rivals. I just want the LSU-Florida game to increase salt levels and also see auburn/Florida play more

after the TCU v Baylor fiasco a few years ago where Baylor beat TCU and had to share the conference championship which was bullshite.

I agree. It was complete bullshite that TCU had to share after Baylor shite the field vs unranked WVU soon after (despite the energy conserved by scheduling the weakest OOC teams possible).

And the SEC ends up in some odd situations from time to time. Bama-UF in the SEC championship game in 2008-2009 led up to lots of offseason talk for the regular season game when it rolled back around in 2010. We all know Florida went on that run after Tebow cried in 2008 after the Ole Miss loss. Then Alabama made him cry again in Atlanta in 2009.

While not a traditional rivalry game that happens every year, it was starting to feel like it. In 2010 they were both preseason top 5, and all of the offseason talk was it didn't really matter who won in October, it was all about the rematch in December and who would be conference champs. Of course Florida got demolished by Alabama, then lost the next two to LSU and MSU, and lost two more down the stretch. It sort of cheapened the regular season game some.
