It may very well be reacting to your palate at the time due to something you ate or otherwise caused an off flavor.

I love Ghost, and I've had one or two in the recent batch I bought that tasted like BO or dirty a-hole (no I hadn't just eaten dirty a-hole, to my knowledge). One of the bottles started out like that and then it went away halfway through.

You may just not like the beer, but it could also be a one-off based on the above, or maybe a storage or cooling/heating issue.

I think it tastes like bitter Tang strained thru a dirty sweat sock

Someone who hasn't had one asked me how it taste the other day and my description was virtually the EXACT same thing.

That's what it was like for me. Like a funky smell and taste. Even had 2 or 3 other people try it and they said the same thing.

I tried some Ghost for the first time this weekend and was surprised that I liked it. I'm generally not a huge IPA fan--one or two in a sitting is enough--but Ghost didn't have that soul-sucking hoppyness that most IPA's have in the aftertaste, it was smooth.

I really didn't bash anything, lol. I just don't understand the negativity towards my comment. Just making an observation. Also don't understand how there can be such a divided opinion on something. I mean if a bunch of people say a restaurant is good and you try it out, you usually agree with how good it is or say it was just ok. I've never had a restaurant recommended, with the level of support GITM gets on this board, and then been like, that was terrible. With this ghost in the Machine though, some people say it is delicious while others say it is terrible and are then berated by those with "more refined" taste buds.

The July 6 batch is really hitting it's stride this week.

Had one last night while winding down. It was even better than the last one I'd had a week prior. Tasted a lot of grapefruit, which I loved.

I keep hearing about this beer, need to try it. Anyone happen to know if it's distributed in Atlanta or do I have to wait until the next time I'm in Louisiana?

As far as I know it's distribution does not extend beyon Louisiana at this time. Someone could know better, but as far as I know it reaches most of the state, but not beyond.

I'm in the same boat and I like a few IPA's. That crap blows. I had one out of the tap at Chimes East. Maybe it was stale or something but it sucked. Tasted like perfume to me.

Obviously the ones who have discovered what piss, sweaty socks, or perfume taste like. I've never had the balls to taste any of those to learn what they taste like.

If you are at the onion stage, give its 42.7 hrs when the celery and bell peppers kick in.

Ghost is good. It's got a just a little funk which is not too common (can't think of others) in LA beers.
