Marxism is traditionally associated with economic transfer
Cultural Marxism is using the underlying Marxist ideas about equality and using government to achieve that equality in social/cultural areas. HOWEVER, ultimately these policy desires end up leading to economic transfers, either directly (best example is reparations) or indirectly (using government to force marginalized groups into having more societal power so the system manufactures economic transfer)
ultimately, it's not about a particular policy goal of transfer and it's about the power to enact those transfers. that's why the intersectional philosophy is based in marginalized v. dominant groups. they frame the argument that since the dominant group has power, they are unable to even participate in the discussion and then claim that any resistance to proposed policies by the dominant group reflect a reinforcement of the dominant-marginalized hierarchy (even if the resistance is objective an rational and the proposed policy suggestion is insane)

Landrieu has diarrhea of the mouth; he doesn't know when to shut up.

Older than that. IIRC, "Das Kapital" was written around 1848 or so.
Going back even further, you could see those ideas put forth and acted upon (if not explicitly named) as far back as the French Revolution.
ETA: "Das Kapital" was published in 1867. Mea culpa.

I'm always amused when the local activists deem a cop shooting to be murder within 24 hours. Yet if we have footage of some thug doing x crime we need to wait for more facts to come out.

Interesting, I'll probably look into this at work tomorrow, I'm still keeping it in the Hannity category of blowhard bullshite though.
Why not call it social engineering? I really don't see how it's tied to Marx except as evoking an emotional response.

that's a succinct description of the issue
and there is the flip side, where there are people who defend LEO to the ends of the earth but who assume the "thug" did whatever based on incomplete and early information

the underlying ideas follow his blueprint
hell it's not even hidden by some of your more extreme progressives who admit their support of Communist ideas
many hide under confusing terms like "anarchism" but it's just Communism rebranded
i understand your point, but seriously, many very progressive groups promote the label and don't hide form it

i meant more in practice (Russian Revolution) but your point is noted

The Marx purists are always a funny group. We know, the Russian Revolution wasn't what he meant.

Because it's based on Marxist ideas revolving around the Strain Theory. Basically taking raw data at face value and trying to create political divides. The underlying hope of these people is equality of outcome.

Strange that Russia was an agricultural country, not industrialized when the revolution occurred.

if you want a good discussion topic for Strain Theory as it applies to marginalized groups away from the typical "black people commit crime at higher rates than other races" stuff, you can look at how homosexual relationships have higher rates of domestic abuse than the damn hets
we have a set of data that provides pretty objective evidence of different behavior rates from different groups. in order to maintain support of the marginalized group that is exhibiting more pathological behavior, we can't discuss issues of the group itself and have to look to larger societal institutions/pressures to explain the difference
in this case, homosexual relationships produce more pathological outcomes within the realm of domestic abuse. now it would be wrong to see if perhaps the relationships themselves may cause this, because homosexuals are a marginalized group. studying that would be harmful. so we have to create something else that produces these unequal outcomes...and the easiest is some vague societal issue or institution that can't really be defined because that's not "mean" and further reflects poorly on the dominant (for creating that system that leads to the pathological outcome)

I know you're trolling but classic liberalism is essentially libertarian. The Democrats hijacked the term because the modern day left are Marxists.

when i was in undergrad (2001-2005), that was actually the excuse for why Communism failed in Russia
Marx had a distinct evolution of society and Russia went straight from monorchial-agricultural to socialist and missed the capitalist portion of the evolution. this meant that its society wasn't really in the proper position to accept communism and it just perverted the system and created, essentially, new monarchies

I did a paper and presentation on this for a Sociology class years ago, it wasn't very well received by classmates. It went against everything they had been told, apparently.

Yes, these deeply ingrained PC social taboos are ironically hurting the very groups that they hold in such protected statuses.

just so we're clear, modern progressives (some who only claim "liberal" status) don't believe in the bolded parts anymore
